The Mining Tribe is a Wakandan tribe.
History[]
Early History[]
The Mining Tribe was one of the five tribes which fought against one another following the fall of the Vibranium meteorite in what became Wakanda. When Bashenga, the first Black Panther, put an end to the conflict, the Mining Tribe agreed to pledge fealty to the Golden Tribe. The Mining Tribe was solely responsible for all the Vibranium mined, stored and utilized in Wakanda.[1]
New King[]
The Mining Tribe attended the Coronation of T'Challa. The Mining Tribe, much like almost all the other tribes, chose not to challenge T'Challa for the throne. They then watched as T'Challa dueled against and defeated the Jabari Tribe leader M'Baku and cheered upon T'Challa's victory.[1]
Erik Killmonger's Revolution[]
When Erik Killmonger arrived in Wakanda and claimed the throne, Zawavari mocked him upon hearing such a demand. However, she was forced to acknowledge that he was within his right when Killmonger was revealed to be the son of late Prince N'Jobu. The Mining Tribe then watched the duel between T'Challa and N'Jadaka and was forced to pledge fealty to the new King N'Jadaka. T'Challa returned, however, and the Mining Tribe agreed to follow him when he got the throne back.[1]
Assata's Achievements[]
A young girl named Assata from the Mining Tribe was offered a spot in Wakanda University, where she impressed her professor, Shuri. Assata invented a method to make mining easier for the Mining Tribe, which impressed Shuri enough to offer Assata a position as her assistant in the Wakandan Design Group. The news made it back to the Mining Tribe, which celebrated Assata's achievement. However, Assata was unsure about whether she wanted to accept the position or fulfill her dream of joining the Dora Milaje. Following advice from M'Baku, Assata ultimately decided to join the Dora Milaje.[2]
