Miek was on Xandar when Ronan the Accuser attacked the planet. This forced Irani Rael to close the Planetary Shield which trapped everyone in Xandar for at least fifty years.[1]

Five years into the isolation, Miek worked at Howard's Casino as a chef. One day, Miek was cutting up fish for customers when the Nova Corpsman, Nebula walked in. Later, Miek was playing rock, paper, scissors with Korg and Groot when Nebula returned, injured and nearly dead. Miek helped stitch her up.

Nebula approached the group when she woke up and needed help defeating Irani Rael as she wanted to open the Planetary Shield and surrender to Ronan the Accuser. Miek, Korg, Nebula, Groot and Howard the Duck suited up and went to the Nova Corps Headquarters. There, the group took care of the guards before getting to the main room where Rael stood, having opened the shield.

Luckily, Nebula had rigged the codes to the shield and allowed it to automatically close prematurely. This caused the shield to close on Ronan, killing him. Angry, Rael ordered the Nova Corps and Yon-Rogg to kill everyone. This caused a scuffle where Miek used her blades to defeat the enemies. Meanwhile, Nebula defeated Rael and was able to keep the shield open as the threat of Ronan was no more.[1]
