Hey, I don’t know who I should go to about this, but I believe you are probably the best person here. I would like to ask what is the possibilities that the Discussion Area of wikis can be updated a little so Moderators can do more to help.
Firstly, if a user continues to violate the guidelines and earn a block, we are not able to do that. We would have to report them to an admin and wait for them to act (which is not always instant, not that it’s their fault). Also, I’m pretty sure blocking them on affects their editing capabilities and not them posting on the discussion area. So if Moderators could have the ability to block people for the discussion area, that would solve the problem, as there isn’t that much relationship between the wiki and its Discussion Area.
Secondly, a rule in our guidelines is that if your post was deleted, refrain from creating another post to complain. However, nearly all the people don’t get that and do it anyway. The appropriate and suggested action is to message the Moderators. However, no one really does that because they likely don’t use the rest of the wiki and probably do know how. And if we message them, they wouldn’t see it if they’re only on the Discussion Area. So, if Moderators were able to message users from the Discussion area somehow, then it would be a lot more productive.
Sorry if this is a lot, and if this isn’t your area. If so, could you please direct me to someone who can help. However, if you can help, I would love to hear your thoughts. Also, I haven’t brought it to him, but if the other Moderator @Marvelus has any input, then ghat is welcome too.
