Hey, first off thanks for making the improvements to the pages I've been making and/or editing. Also, I hope the improvements I've been doing haven't been to excessive. It's just the amount of unfinished pages and lack of in depth information bugs me :/
Your gramatical corrections to the Zehoberi page is greatly appreciated :) Although, I wouldn't go editing the species status of other Guardians characters just yet, cuz we don't know for sure if in this universe, Nebula is a luphomoid and Yondu is a centaurian.
That's the reason the pages have not been created, just given a red link to mark them in the "Wanted Pages" section, and when there's a confirmation of their respective race, créate the page, and know what links need to be changed.
I'm sorry (I am quite new here) but what was wrong with my description of the Tesseract's energy (as the Space stone the fundamental property of its energy is its ability to transport matter across the cosmos)?
Thanks for helping around the wiki, you're doing an amazing job. But one thing I'd like to ask is to not erase a page a categorize it for deletion but make the page a redirect. With some pages, it's fine but pages like Agent Jackson, to Jackson can just be renamed.
Well, before deleting the redirects, and especially when they are minor pages/characters like this Jackson, I correct all the internal links to the page before marking it for deletion.
I feel that is unnecessary to have so many redirects when there are no pages that link to the redirect, because they link directly to the main article.
For instance, there were redirects about agent when you don't know their first name: Agent Jackson, Agent Peterson, Agent Cale...; but no real pages linked to the "Agent" page, and instead all linked to the "Surname" page.
I think there should be a clear policy about the names of the pages (omitting "The": Mandarin instead of The Mandarin, Collector instead of The Collector; omitting titles like "Agent", "Dr.", "Professor", etc.) to keep consistency in every article of the wiki.
I understand that, but as a redirect, I think having Agent, The, Dr, Professor or any other name as a redirect is perfectly fine. For example, Thor: The Dark World, a good redirect is Thor 2. It's not the official title, but it's a title that people may type or search.
Sorry for reviving this old thread, but after Uskok encouraged me to write a formal policy about Naming Policy, and the subsequent cleaning of the wiki I've been doing in the past few days, I'm even more sure that there are many redirects that are not needed.
For instance, many redirect were typos, like Captain America: The Winter Soilder, Ari Arad or Ellen Brandy; and the only purpose of having these pages as redirects is not to notice that a typo has been made. If an editor writes one of these names and it gives a red link, then the editor will check to know why it's a red link when the page already exists. He'll notice the typo and fix it. But if the typo links to a redirect, it will appear as a blue link ant the mistake will go unnoticed.
Another thing I've realized when I was consulting other wikis is that the titles aren't usually a part of the articles name, as they are just that, a title and not a name (it even was a joke in The Avengers about Coulson's first name), so for the same reason as above, having only some of them as redirects could lead to the same result as above, mistakes. If it is uniform, and no character has his title on the name page (as this is easier than having every character had a redirect with his title, or having many pages for characters with multiple titles like Fury or Hill) will give the wiki a cleaner and more uniform look.
And finally, the omitting of The in the name pages. It's a language issue, obviously, when a character has a codename, it's usually refered to as The "codename", but that's just because he is a particular and specific individual (eg. The Collector is specifically Taneleer Tivan, not just a random collector), but that doesn't make The a part of the codename, and should therefore be not part of the name page, but of course the article should begin with "The Collector is...".
As was the case with the other examples, having some of the articles beginning with The and some not leads to many unnoticed mistakes.
Obviously, there are many redirects that are useful, necessaries and "untouchables", like redirects to the films using numbers, or to the codenamed characters using their real names; but many of the redirects I've deleted should be circumvented just using the search engine, that even although does not present the exact match for the words typed, it usually refers to the article that was looked for.
I hope to have explained my reasons for doing this, as the only thing I want is to keep improving this wiki, maybe one of these days even as an administrator.
And one more thing, until you become an admin in this wiki, stop undoing my edits.
If you don't like them, go to an admin and complain about them, but you have no right to undo any of my edits. I don't care if you believe yourself to be a "top user", but I'm no newby nor vandal, and I know pretty much what I'm doing to improve the wiki.
I'm not a mod, just a concerned citizen, as Coulson once said.
The template used in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is adapted from the template of the movies, so you have to change every other template in the wiki.
Isn't it easier to use these templates in new articles instead of changing back other articles to match a new template.
Shabook-- a favor? Could you start clicking the "minor edit" box on edits that have net change of zero or just adding catagories and then like? It would make it easier to navigate through the Recent Changes page.
