Bruno Horgan was a weapons developer and rival of Stark Industries who began working for A.I.M., developing microwave radiation technology. He resided at his own base where the Proton Cannon was. One day, Iron Man attacked. The two had it out in a call as Horgan explained he had the better deal with A.I.M., which Stark did not agree with.

Iron Man Over Melter

As Stark kept destroying more weapons, Melter got into his Melter Armor to defend the Proton Cannon. He performed counter maneuvers on Stark, distracting the latter enough to not see the missiles coming at him. However, Stark's power was too much for Melter, who was killed by a blast. Stark then went on to destroy the Proton Cannon.[2]
