The Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki is continually revising our policies.
If you locate any unwritten rule that should be clarified, use the talk page to make a proposal

This Layout Guide is an official guide as to how an in-universe article infobox templates be written and structured. Feel free to discuss the Layout Guide on the talk page.

Infobox Image

Every infobox for an in-universe article must have a high-quality image regarding the subject of the article. However, there is a protocol to decide which image suits better the infobox image.

  • Images must always come from a Marvel Cinematic Universe related media. For example, it is preferred to categorize a location article as an imageless article than to add a "real-world" image from the location.
  • Unless there is no other image available, images must never be a Set photo or illustration, though the illustration is preferred if it is released as a promotional image instead of concept art.
  • Character images must reflect the appearance of said character in their latest released appearance for the subject, either a movie or Television series season.
    • In case of TV series characters, there is no need that the image comes from the latest released episode, it is enough for it to be from the current season.
    • The image must be an accurate high-quality portrait of the character's latest/current appearance.
    • When available, a promotional image or textless poster is preferred over a screenshot, as long as the image is reflective of the subject's latest/current appearance. If it is not, then a high-quality screenshot must be added.
  • Location images must be devoid of written labels with its name over the image, as they are intended to be an in-universe image of the location.
    • Maps are only allowed for Countries and Continents, using Wikipedia's Grey & Green orthographic projection maps when available; and for Regions and States, using Wikipedia's Red Locator Maps.
