Martin was born to a board member of Goldman Sachs. Due to causing a branch in the Sacred Timeline, Martin was apprehended by the Time Variance Authority. While waiting in line to be tried for his crimes, Martin was told to take a ticket by a TVA guard; he refused, making his way to the front of the empty queuing station without one. When he was asked for his ticket by another TVA agent, he lied that the guard refused to give him one. Upon the agent insisting he present his ticket, Martin confronted him, leading to the agent using his Time Stick to prune the Variant.[1] Following this, Martin was sent to the Void, the TVA's dumping ground for all pruned material.[2]

Martin was very confrontational and agitatable, getting angry with a TVA employee when he raised his voice, threatening other TVA agents upon his arrest, attempting to intimidate them by mentioning his father's status and forcefully striking an agent who attempted to restrain him. He was also shown to be rebellious, refusing to take a ticket to join the queue even when repeatedly told to, as well as being a liar, claiming that he asked for a ticket but never received one.
