Marc Scarlotti was an employee for Stark Industries, whose brilliant mind helped earn Tony Stark millions of dollars. However, Scarlotti was found stealing plans and promptly fired, causing the angry Scarlotti to join the Maggia.[2]
Maggia[]
Meeting Iron Man[]
Scarlotti orders the killing of hostages
While a part of the Maggia, Scarlotti developed a Whiplash Armor. He then was assigned at a Maggia factory where they developed recreations of Stark Industries weapons. Using civilians as workers, they were successful until Iron Man came to shut it down. Therefore, Scarlotti ordered trucks to leave with shipments and then to destroy the factories and kill the civilians.
Whiplash faces Iron Man
When Whiplash saw Iron Man coming to him, he charged up his armor. Scarlotti was then contacted by Iron Man and asked who he was. Upon hearing the voice, Scarlotti immediately recognized Tony Stark and chewed him out for firing him despite making Stark millions of dollars. The two fought as Scarlotti grabbed Iron Man with his whips, prompting Iron Man to joke that he was trying to give him whiplash, producing a dry laugh from Scarlotti. He then said Stark was always cocky, prompting Stark to clap back saying that he must have learned that from what his sister told him.
Whiplash is blasted by Iron Man
Iron Man then talked about how Scarlotti's clients were bad, but Scarlotti said that he did not look into his clients moralities and Stark should learn from that. As Scarlotti took blasts from Iron Man, he said that Stark made a lot of enemies recently and did not know what he was getting into. Although, Stark did not care about this comment and finished Scarlotti off, who said that Stark was digging his own grave. Nevertheless, Scarlotti collapsed and died from his wounds.[2]
Personality[]
Scarlotti was very egotistical, who believed that he did not deserve to be fired by Stark Industries. This emotion brought him to join Maggia, where he vowed revenge against Iron Man. Scarlotti also did not care for other human lives as he told his men to kill hostages.
