Higgins gets seduced by Stephanie Miller

"What do you want? Money? Cindy..."
"Oh, we both know what my soror will do when she sees these pictures. I don't want your money, Mark. I need a vote, of confindence."
―Mark Higgins and Mariah Dillard[src]

Higgins attended Harlem's Paradise where he had an affair with one of the hostesses, Stephanie Miller, and kept it a secret from his wife, Cindy.[1] Together with Miller, Higgins attended Mariah Dillard's event at the Shirley Chisholm Complex, and congratulated Dillard with her success afterwards. However, when Higgins came to Harlem's Paradise, Miller brought photos of Higgins with her, and he assumed that Dillard wanted to blackmail him for money. Dillard noted what would happen if Cindy would see the photos and spoke to Higgins in private.

Dillard informed Higgins that she was aware about the dealings between Atreus Plastics and Glenn Industries, and told Higgins to vote in favor of the merger, so Dillard's investments in the company's stock would increase tenfold. Higgins was too prideful to sell the company he built to Glenn Industries, but Dillard said that otherwise, the evidence of him cheating on his wife will be publicized. Later, Tilda Johnson visited the club and Dillard introduced Higgins as the major investor of the Family First Initiative, before Higgins angrily left the club.[2]

Higgins is murdered by Bushmaster

The next day, Higgins complied with Dillard's ultimatum and approved the Atreus/Glenn merger, resigning from the company afterwards. Piranha Jones' insider information turned out to be accurate, as the Atreus' stock jumped in value after the merger, which greatly increased Dillard's net worth. Soon after, Higgins was kidnapped and murdered by Bushmaster who ripped his head off and left it at the Shirley Chisholm Complex, as a message to Dillard.[3]

Personality[]

"Mark Higgins is a sack of shit that never put a dime into the community. And he let his dick control him."
Mariah Dillard to Tilda Johnson[src]

Higgins is described by Mariah Dillard as a prideful and petty man, who only cared about personal profits, and never did anything to support the community with his money. He took a great pride in the fact that he was the owner of the biggest black-owned plastics company, refusing to even consider a merger with Glenn Industries, to which he referred to as "goddamn crackers". Higgins also proved to be a rather unloyal man, being easily seduced by Stephanie Miller, which Dillard used against him. Even when Dillard threatened Higgins with the evidence of his affair, he still was hesitant to comply with Dillard's demands, but soon realized that he had no choice, as he did not want his wife to find out.
