"Oh, this is very nice. We gotta get this framed. Put up on the top of the fridge."
Rocket Raccoon to Groot

Magnum Opus is the fifth and final episode of the first season of I Am Groot.

Groot sets out to paint a family portrait of himself and the Guardians, and goes to great lengths to collect art supplies and forge his masterpiece. Rocket stumbles upon Groot's efforts and quickly discovers just how messy—and disastrous—the artistic process can be.

Groot gathers up his items

Groot walks on the ship with Peter Quill’s backpack. He finds a comic for Alf in the backpack and decides to use it for an art project. He gathers up hair from Rocket Raccoon, a mother board, Drax the Destroyer's soap after taking it from when Quill was in the shower, and some other things. Groot then creates art, but needs glitter. Groot builds a bomb and detonates it, sending the debris onto his paper like glitter. Groot then finds that there is a huge crater in the ship, so he uses duct tape to form a bridge across it. Soon, Rocket wakes up and sees what Groot has done. He asks why it looks like a bomb went off. Groot says that a bomb did go off. Rocket starts scolding, but Groot shows him what he made: a picture of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Suddenly, another explosion goes off causing Rocket to fall into the hole, but Groot pulls him out.
