- "If we succeed, there will not be any S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future, and those who have followed us here... will be out of time."
- ―Luke[src]
Luke was one of the Chronicom Hunters who was assigned to hunt down and destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. throughout time. In 1931, he assumed the identity of the NYPD captain William Dole to infiltrate the period and kill Freddy Malick. However, once the Hunters were followed by S.H.I.E.L.D. from the future, Luke was unsuccessful in his mission to prevent the rise of HYDRA. Arriving in 1955, Luke informed his former target, Malick, about Daniel Sousa's investigations against HYDRA and then approached him about joining forces, preventing Malick's original death. Luke later awoke several Hunters, but their ship was eventually destroyed by Phil Coulson. While his plan was ruined, Luke fought Alphonso Mackenzie in the Lighthouse before being killed by Rick Stoner.
Biography[]
Confrontation with S.H.I.E.L.D.[]
Finding his Disguise[]
- "Captain William Dole? New York Police Department, 4th Precinct? I am a sentient Chronicom from the planet Chronyca-2."
"Good for you. Now beat it, before we make you freaks forget being born." - ―Luke and William Dole[src]
With the Chronicoms planning establish Chronyca-3 on Earth and having gained access to all secrets of S.H.I.E.L.D. by acquiring the Toolbox, Luke was assigned to lead a squad of Chronicom Hunters with the purpose of traveling back in time and prevent S.H.I.E.L.D. from being created. Together with Cain and Abel, Luke traveled to 1931 in order to kill Freddy Malick and prevent the rise of HYDRA. They, before proceeding with the mission, would need to disguise themselves as humans.
Upon arrival in New York City, Luke and his teammates, Cain and Abel, approached three NYPD officers who were expecting a shipment of illegal alcohol from Jimmy Bottles at Cut Rate Drugs. Luke introduced his race and home planet to Captain William Dole and took his Eraser out of a suitcase. Two policemen drew their weapons on the Hunters, just to be killed by Cain and Abel. Luke overpowered Dole and started the process to consume his identity before killing him. Shortly thereafter, the Hunters surprised and killed Bottles when he entered the pharmacy.[1]
Recognizing Quake[]
Luke impersonated William Dole in order to avoid arousing suspicion, but became worried when the New York City Police Department discovered Dole's and the other corpses rather quickly. Observing the investigation from a distance, Luke recognized Quake as she exited Cut Rate Drugs, and realized that S.H.I.E.L.D. had somehow followed him into the past. Luke, wanting to deal with the situation quickly, ordered Cain and Abel to kill Quake and anyone else who was there from S.H.I.E.L.D.[1]
Attack on Freddy Malick[]
- "Who are you? Why are you doing this?"
"Because you are the thread." - ―Freddy Malick and Luke[src]
While Cain had been kidnapped as a result of the attack at Cut Rate Drugs, Luke and Abel prepared to attack their target, Freddy Malick. The two arrived at a political party. Luke ordered Abel to ensure the attack only happened after a handoff occurred.
Luke and Abel watched Viola complete the handoff with Malick and promptly attacked the two HYDRA agents. Luke shot Viola, who fell to the ground, and prepared to shoot Malick. Luke approached him with the gun. Scared, Malick asked Luke who he was and why he was doing it. Luke referred to Malick as the thread that had to be pulled in order to prevent S.H.I.E.L.D. from existing. However, Daisy Johnson used her Inhuman abilities to push Luke and Abel to the kitchen. Luke told Johnson that he was looking forward for a fight with her.
With the help of Abel, Luke briefly overpowered Johnson. However, Johnson was later joined by Phil Coulson. Luke started to fight Coulson, while Abel fought Johnson. Luke tried to use a pot to defend himself from Coulson's punch, but Coulson's robotic strength allowed him to dent the pot. Luke was defeated by Coulson, who also helped Johnson defeat Abel, while Alphonso Mackenzie and Deke Shaw brought Malick to safety.[1]
Searching for Targets[]
- "If you should see Wilfred Malick again, please let us know."
"Oh, I will. And if you find that no-good bum, you tell him not show his sourpuss around here again." - ―Luke and Ernest Koenig[src]
Luke and Abel searched for Freddy Malick and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents at The Krazy Kanoe, still under the guise of being NYPD officers, interrogating Ernest Koenig. However, the two failed to find them, and were notified that the agents' getaway car had been found.
The Hunters went to the location where Alphonso Mackenzie, Deke Shaw, and Freddy Malick had left their getaway car, next to a train track. When Abel voiced his concern that S.H.I.E.L.D. could stop them, Luke assured him that there would not be any S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future if they were to succeed in killing Malick.[3]
Ambush at Hell's Harbor[]
- "We failed. HYDRA will rise. S.H.I.E.L.D. will form."
- ―Luke to Abel[src]
Luke and Abel eventually found Freddy Malick, who was being protected by Alphonso Mackenzie and Deke Shaw, at Hell's Harbor. Shaw shot at them with a revolver, and the two took cover. The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were eventually joined by Daisy Johnson, Phil Coulson, Ernest Koenig, and Enoch, who began engaging in the fight. Using his Chronicom Rifle, Luke kept shooting the agents.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents distracted Luke and Abel while Malick completed the transaction, bringing the key ingredient to the Super Soldier Serum to HYDRA. Having failed the mission, and realizing that their window to time travel was closing, Luke ordered Abel to abandon the fight and return to the ship, despite Abel's protests.[3]
Reporting to Sibyl[]
Once the Chronicom Hunters' ship landed safely in the 1950s, Luke and Abel talked to Sibyl about their discovery that S.H.I.E.L.D. was following them, yet had not discovered the ship. Abel protested Sibyl's orders to self-destruct when compromise, mentioning Cain's death, but Sibyl defended herself, and Luke berated Abel as a mere Hunter. Luke reported that other Chronicoms were sent to Area 51, asking whether infiltrating Project Helius was still a viable plan, which Sibyl said it was.[4]
Meeting with Phil Coulson[]
This section needs a rewrite |
- "Even if we left this planet alone, the humans you care about will slowly die out around you. I wonder how you'll feel in 1,000 years."
"Cut to the chase. What's the offer?"
"Give us what we want... Earth... and your humans will have our charity." - ―Luke and Phil Coulson[src]
Luke, after failing to destroy HYDRA with the Assassination of Wilfred Malick, to prevent S.H.I.E.L.D. formed, he decided to change strategy: instead of destroying HYDRA so as not to have S.H.I.E.L.D. founded, he decided to ally with the first organization to ensure that the second is destroyed and that HYDRA governs the world, as it was their desire.
After predicting from Sibyl that, in 1955, Daniel Sousa would die after delivering the scientist Niles Lindmore's package to Howard Stark at the Hotel Roosevelt and later being killed by Malick's henchmen, Luke decided to alter the timeline anonymously calling Malick to tell him that Sousa was on the train and to send his henchmen to kill him on it.
Later, Luke also boarded the train to Los Angeles, where he also found Phil Coulson, along with Sousa. When the latter left, Luke approached Coulson and told him not to worry, because he was alone and wanted to make him a proposal, much to the latter's perplexity, because he noticed that making deals was not in the style of the Chronicoms.
Luke told him that the Chronicoms fit in and that he had to see it as an opportunity and he answered, above all, to Coulson's question that the only reason he had not approached Alphonso Mackenzie was because she knew that he was not a normal human, but an Android and that he was not subject to the limitations of human life and the drama of mortality, which he called an absurd concept.
Coulson said that human life deserved to be spared and lived, but Luke said that even if he fulfilled his requests to leave the humans he cares about alone, they would die of old age one by one around him and asked him how it would be heard thousands of years from now, as he was trapped for eternity at the age he died in 2018, being an android. Coulson asked, ordering to go to the point, what he would offer them and Luke replied to donate the Earth to the Chronicoms and that in return they would be generous to the human beings who live there.
Coulson, however, rejected the proposal, because S.H.I.E.L.D. had seen too many people with their faces erased, so they will always doubt their good intentions. Luke, however, remained calm, saying that so far they have not caused any damage to the timeline and that if Coulson did not accept the proposal, they would make it even worse. The latter sensed that the real reason Luke wanted to make a deal was because S.H.I.E.L.D. was on their heels: If the Chronicoms would have traveled in time, so would the S.H.I.E.L.D. it will travel in time, and that if the first had dared to bully, they too would have done so.
Luke said, however, that they would never be able to see what the Chronicoms would see, and gave the example that they knew that he and Sousa would board the train and that the briefcase the latter had to deliver was a fake; they knew, above all, that today was the day of Sousa's death, that he would be killed at the Hotel Roosevelt after the handover, but that instead, by changing the timeline in the process, they would kill him right now on the train.[5]
Deal with Wilfred Malick[]
- "You and I share an enemy, Mr. Malick. The only difference is that mine is from the future."
"I think I might have met one of them."
"You certainly did. As it is certain S.H.I.E.L.D. will destroy all you have built. It is time to prevent that." - ―Luke and Wilfred Malick[src]
Once he heard Wilfred Malick that the mission to kill Daniel Sousa had been completed, Luke silently approached Malick, but he noticed and pointed the gun at him, but Luke asked him to calm down and put it down, telling him he was staying in 1955 to give him a hand.
Malick had then recognized the man, by the voice, as the anonymous who had called to tell him that Sousa was on the train. Luke told Malick that they had enemies in common, but that the enemies of the former came from the future, to which Malick said he met one of them a few hours ago, to which Luke agreed and also said that he was perfectly sure that the S.H.I.E.L.D. would destroy everything that HYDRS has built and that it was time to stop it. Malick asked him how and Luke replied that he had to do exactly what he was told.[5]
Project Insight[]
This section needs a rewrite |
To punish S.H.I.E.L.D. in rejecting Luke's agreement to give Earth to the Chronicoms, the latter, after predicting by Sibyl that Wilfred and Nathaniel Malick would die in the early 1970s and that Project Insight would not be launched until the next 40 years old, in 2014, he decided to keep the two of them alive for another three years and to anticipate the project of forty years earlier and helping the HYDRA to give names from the future, making sure that the most important people who are just born, are killed immediately to prevent them from becoming a threat to HYDRA in the future, including Bruce Banner, who is still a child at that time, thus altering the timeline in the process.
Luke, entering The Krazy Kanoe, met Phil Coulson and Melinda May and asked Malick to argue with him in order to intelligently expose him, but Coulson denied his identity at all costs, making up a false story, hoping he would fall for it, but Malick said the Chronicoms had told him everything about his past and future, and just then, they showed up, along with Luke, and Malick asked Coulson if he really believed he had forgotten him so easily.
Malick said he met Coulson in the early 1930s in this very place and a whole life has gone by for him since that day and he asked him what he had done. Coulson started to leave, but Luke blocked his way, telling him that he should first accept his proposal to give the Chronicoms the Earth. Malick immediately asked him to surrender if he wanted the team alive; but Coulson made a counteroffer, seeing Daisy with Nathaniel Malick, to let them go and that he will live. Wilfred said they would never dare and that Nathaniel had nothing to do with this, but May pointed out that Wilfred and his son were not supposed to have existed since their death in the early 1970s and Coulson asked him if he had accepted his otherwise it would have forced him to do things he would regret later.
Luke immediately silenced the discussion and ordered his Chronicom Hunters to end it, but Malick asked the Chronicoms to put down their weapons, doing so physically, allowing S.H.I.E.L.D. to escape, in the process, much to Luke's amazement, who asked him what strange behavior he had had, despite Wilfred telling him that they had his son hostage and that they could not shoot with him in the middle, so Luke asked the hunters to follow them. He later joined them, but saw that the hunters were defeated by Quake, forcing Luke to change the rules of Project Insight, going in 1976, with Chronicom Time Ship, in the process.[6]
Change of Strategy[]

- "You were handed victory and the power to eradicate thousands of your foes. Yet you would have thrown it away to save one person."
"My son. I had no choice."
"It only seemed that way. The fatal flaw in the human condition, which you'll now help us exploit." - ―Luke and Wilfred Malick[src]
After traveling to July 4, 1976, the day of the launch of Project Insight, Luke went to Wilfred Malick's Estate, during which the latter felt that he would be returning and said that the terrace of his house is a good place to watch the launch. Luke, however, said that he had not come for that, but to talk about his transgression at the The Krazy Kanoe, although Malick thought that Luke is still angry about what happened in 1973.
The latter said that the Chronicoms do not get angry, but just adapt and that that day gave them a good lesson on the behavior of human beings, amazing Malick. Luke said that he had been given victory and power to destroy so many enemies and that he threw them away to save Nathaniel Malick's life, to whom Malick told him that despite what he has done in recent years, he had no other choice.
Luke said, however, that perhaps it had seemed so to him, which is a fatal flaw in the human condition, and that the Chronicoms would exploit with the help of Malick himself; then gave him a paper, telling him that their prophet, Sibyl, predicted that S.H.I.E.L.D. he would come to see her and that Malick will have an advantage when they find him.
Looking at the paper, the latter said to add to the list the next hostages of the photo that Luke gave him, during which the latter said that it was not a very risky move, his, and that he only wants S.H.I.E.L.D. find out and reveal the location and that he would deliver the message; and Malick replied that he would deliver it loud and clear.
Despite all the precautions taken by the Chronicoms, in order not to destroy the Project Insight, S.H.I.E.L.D. he succeeded in successfully destroying the latter project and Deke Shaw, meanwhile, murdered Malick in cold blood.[6]
New Phase[]
This section needs a rewrite |
Luke, after the failure of Project Insight and the murder of Wilfred Malick, went to report to Sibyl, who was observing, with the temporal flows, that life follows patterns, such as, for example, the coasts eroded by the waves, shells and leaves and said, above all, that a new world would blossom under Luke's feet and asked if he could hear it.
Luke, however, felt the weight of Malick's death and the shattered Insight and asked Sibyl if this was the future she saw. The latter told him that if one branch died, another would bear fruit, but Luke, losing his patience, asked Sibyl not to use metaphors and told her that his path led to the disaster of everything, but Sibyl asked him if that was indeed the case, since the S.H.I.E.L.D. had to be revealed to destroy Insight, revealing the location to the Chronicoms, in the process, and that Malick's son, Nathaniel, had captured Daisy Johnson, so they were divided and Alphonso Mackenzie would be forced into the Lighthouse if he wanted to save his parents, and they began to get careless, in the process.
Luke had noticed, from Sibyl's words, that they had already begun to bend over from the stress she kept going through and asked her if she hoped to overwhelm them, to which she said yes and that phase two is beginning, for the Chronicom Hunters and Luke swore that he would wake them up one after the other and Sibyl reminded him, above all, that they have to keep adapting, so Luke transferred his consciousness back into his synthetic body and prepared to wake up all the available hunters to make sure to replace one by one. all agents of the Lighthouse, thanks to the method of transferring the memories and identities of the victims to the hunters, to then remove their face and then conquer the Lighthouse, in the process.
Later, Luke, along with the other Hunters, used advanced computer skills to hack the Lighthouse's missiles to destroy the Zephyr One, even before Stoner gave the order to shoot and the hunters decided to close the Lighthouse to divide the agents and conquer him, then the hunters kidnapped Agent Ford and Agent King to replace them as Chronicoms and General Rick Stoner would also be replaced, if Phil Coulson and Melinda May hadn't stopped him, saving his life, in the process.[2]
Defeated by S.H.I.E.L.D.[]
This section needs a rewrite |
After splitting the S.H.I.E.L.D. and knowing that Alphonso Mackenzie released his parents and they were about to escape to the Quinjet, opening the armored door to do so, Luke, along with Abel, went to catch them, but Mack, noticing the footsteps and the noises that were approaching, organized an ambush to the two Chronicom Hunters, managing to stop Abel, but Luke brutally pushed Mackenzie, but the latter managed to give him a kick so hard that he was temporarily incapacitated, giving Abel the advantage of pushing him against the wall and giving him violent punches, but Mackenzie, despite the superior strength of the Chronicom, managed to kill him, knocking his head against the concrete wall.
Once he had recovered, Luke, upon seeing Abel's body, heard a bang underground, a sign that Phil Coulson blew up the Chronicoms and destroyed the Chronicom Time Ship, and the sound of the door leading to the Quinjet opening. Mackenzie said they had removed the lock on the door, but Luke, with his plan ruined and having nothing left to lose, prepared to face Mackenzie in a duel to the death. Having weakened Mackenzie with a strong warhead, he prepared to kill him with the Chronicom Pistol, but, shortly before he could do so, he was shot in the neck and instantly killed by a Chronicom Rifle at the hands of Rick Stoner, saving Mackenzie's life in the process.[2]
Personality[]
- "You should've taken our offer when you had the chance, Mr. Coulson. Surrender now, and we'll go easy on the rest of you."
- ―Luke to Phil Coulson[src]
Luke, like other Chronicom Hunters, is cold in his actions. While he is able to take human form and blend in, his actions and mannerisms remain slightly robotic. He tends to use violence as a solution to get his way, and is a strong leader who was able to take charge of the mission to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D., including trying to destroy HYDRA in the early 1930s with the assassination of Wilfred Malick, even though he later allies himself with the latter to make HYDRA rule the world without S.H.I.E.L.D. interfere.
Another aspect of Luke's personality is that, in order to get what he wants, he is able to reach an agreement with his enemies without risking a conflict, as happened on the train with Phil Coulson, even if Luke has threatened to damage the line storm, which happened, if he wasn't listened to, after Coulson turned down the proposal to give Earth to the Chronicoms.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Chronicom Physiology: As a Chronicom, Luke is a synthetic being and thus possesses great abilities like appearance alteration.
- Superhuman Strength: Luke was easily able to restrain Alphonso Mackenzie when the latter was attempting to stop the Chronicom Hunters from commencing the next phase of their plan. He also briefly overpowered the Inhuman, Quake in a fight while also battling a Life-Model Decoy, Phil Coulson.
- Superhuman Durability: Luke had feats of incredible durability. When he was moving towards William Dole as the latter fired bullets at him, Luke did not even flinch or feel anything. When fighting Alphonso Mackenzie, Luke did not even feel any pain either from the latter's attacks. However, he succombed to wounds suffered by a shot to the back by Rick Stoner using a Chronicom Rifle.
- Superhuman Stamina: Luke did not need to breath, giving him the inability to feel fatigue. This helped him while fighting Quake and Phil Coulson at the same time.
- Longevity: Like all Chronicoms, Luke was immune to aging and disease and his life had extended for thousands of years.
- Appearance Alteration: When he first came to Earth in 1931, Luke immediately stole William Dole's face using the Erasers. He then used Dole's appearance until his death.
- Computer Interaction: Luke used his programming to connect to a digital simulation in the Chronicom Timeship to speak to Sibyl.
- Compressability: If needed, Luke could compress his inner structure, allowing him to squeeze through tight spaces.
Abilities[]
- Master Combatant: As a Chronicom Hunter, Luke was an excellent fighter, going on tiptoe with Quake, who almost managed to defeat her, with the help of Abel, and with Phil Coulson, who the latter, being a sentient android, similar to the Chronicom, managed to put him knocked down, due to the fact that they are even, regarding brute strength. He also managed to rival Alphonso Mackenzie's strength, despite being a strong, well-trained big man, and was about to kill him, had he not been killed himself by General Rick Stoner.
- Expert Marksman: Luke was also an expert marksman, having nearly been able to execute Wilfred Malick, were it not for Quake's intervention and, later, on a second attempt at Malick, shoot the Chronicoms Rifles several meters away, for hit the target, were it not for S.H.I.E.L.D. that he was protecting Malick from them, to get the delivery, to keep the future safe; then he was about to shoot Mack, were it not for the timely intervention of General Rick Stoner, who killed Luke with a Chronicom rifle.
- Expert Tactician: Thanks to Sibyl's predictions, Luke knows how to draw up really intelligent tactical plans to fight his enemies, such as the S.H.I.E.L.D., learning about every single move in order to anticipate them and, above all, to know their emotional weaknesses to bend them under stress, to then overwhelm them all, like kidnapping Mack's parents to keep them from blowing up the Lighthouse. Luke also concocted a clever plan to destroy HYDRA, thereby preventing S.H.I.E.L.D. formed in the future with the murder of Wilfred Malick, then he wanted to anticipate the death of Daniel Sousa on the train, instead of at the Hotel Roosevelt in Los Angeles; and then he'd also anticipated Project Insight and kept Wilfred and Nathaniel Malick alive to alter the timeline to punish S.H.I.E.L.D. for not giving the Earth to the Chronicom. Luke was also a good leader for his Hunters, taking charge of the mission to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. at all costs and was also able to prevent Abel from not defying his retreat orders, as the latter wanted to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. at all costs, even if they had failed to assassinate Malick and he also knew how to give very specific orders to his hunters, how to replace the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to take over the Lighthouse and order the kidnapping of Alphonso Mackenzie's parents to prevent S.H.I.E.L.D. to flood the Lighthouse.
- Expert Hacker: Luke was an experienced hacker, being a Chronicom, like when he infiltrated the computer network to activate Lighthouse missiles to destroy Zephyr One.
Equipment[]
Weapons[]
- Chronicom Rifle: Luke used the Chronicom Rifle during a second assassination attempt on Wilfred Malick and the entire S.H.I.E.L.D.
- Chronicom Pistol: Luke used the Chronicom Pistol to attempt to assassinate Mackenzie, but was unable to use it because he was killed by General Rick Stoner.
- FN Model 1922: Luke carried this handgun, outfitted with a silencer, in an attempt to kill Freddy Malick. He was about to kill him before Daisy Johnson appeared, knocking him with her powers and making him lose the gun.
Other Equipment[]
- Erasers: Luke used an Eraser to allow himself to assume the identity of William Dole.
Vehicles[]
- Chronicom Time Ship: Luke used the Chronicom Time Ship to travel through the space-time tunnel at any time and in very important places, to find suitable weapons to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. and to alter the timeline.
