Biography[]
Goddess of Rock[]
- "She died on tour. Hotel fire."
- ―Alice Wu-Gulliver[src]
Lorna Wu was a witch and the lead singer of the rock band Lorna Wu and the Coral Shore[1] who suffered from her family's curse.[2] She wrote and performed the most well known version of the "Ballad of the Witches' Road"[1] which she created as a protection spell for her daughter, Alice Wu-Gulliver, who also suffered from her family's curse. Through her concerts, Wu attempted to open a path to the Witches' Road, seeing her fans as her coven.[2]
While on tour at Red Rocks, Wu encouraged her daughter to get a tattoo when she was 13, explaining that all of the women in their family were "cursed."[3] Sometime after, Wu sensed that her mother had fallen victim to the family's curse despite being thousands of miles away. Wu was eventually forced to sell her music catalog so that she could keep her family's home.[2] She went on one last tour with her band[1] during which she fell victim to the family's curse and was killed in a hotel fire.[2]
Legacy[]
- "When Mom died, I stopped believing everything she ever taught me. I was so angry. Part of me hoped the road wasn't real, so I could stay angry. Because..."
"Now you know. It was all for you." - ―Alice Wu-Gulliver and Lilia Calderu[src]
Prior to her death, Wu told her daughter, Alice Wu-Gulliver, that the Witches' Road would save her.[2] Despite not being able to completely neutralize the effects of the curse, she managed to stop it from killing her daughter. This led Wu-Gulliver to eventually join Agatha Harkness' Coven to travel the Witches' Road.[1]
