"Come on. I never totally fit in with the gang, anyway."
The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story that has been officially deemed to be non-canonical to the primary continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its events instead occur in another reality within the Multiverse. This universe is designated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki as the "Chitauri Helicarrier Attack Universe".

"Nothing can stop me! I will regain control of the Tesseract!"
―Loki to Hulk[src]

Loki Laufeyson is the Jotun God of Mischief who became thirsty for power, leading to his attempt at conquering Earth. In his quest, Loki fought the Avengers for the Tesseract to open up a Wormhole for the Chitauri. However, he was eventually defeated when he was thrown into the Wormhole himself.

Biography[]

This is an in-depth biography of Loki/Chitauri Helicarrier Attack. For an abridged overview, see Marvel Database's article on the same character.

Chitauri Invasion[]

Tricking Iron Man[]

"Cap, come in! I fell for the old 'fake villain' trick. The real Loki is nowhere in sight. Got any intel on where he might be hiding?"
Iron Man to Captain America[src]

Loki was the adoptive brother of Thor who desired world domination and invaded Earth with a master plan. In the first part of his plan, Loki obtained the Scepter and sent mercenaries to attack the United Nations in order to divide the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. He then planted an illusion of himself to distract Iron Man while he set up forces to attack the Helicarrier. Meanwhile, Loki went to Stark Tower to stage his next step.[2]

Attacking the Helicarrier[]

"The Tesseract is mine! Now I will rule this world!"
―Loki[src]

On the Helicarrier, Loki and his mercenaries immediately shut down radio transmissions, disabling the Avengers communication devices. He then stood as his goons attacked first, facing off against Captain America. Once Rogers met with Loki, it was too late as Loki disappeared into thin air, exclaiming that the Tesseract was his.

Arrival of the Chitauri[]

"Oooh, delightful! See how the power of the Tesseract can't be resisted by my brother!"
―Loki to Thor[src]

At a building in New York City, Loki awaited the arrival of Thor, who blindly attacked one of Loki's illusions. Loki jumped around Thor playing with his brother until he finally took out the Tesseract, which instantly incapacitated Thor, much to Loki's delight. Loki then suspended Thor in the air so that he could go to Stark Tower.

Once there, Loki was met by Captain America and Hulk who had gotten past the mercenaries. Loki was unafraid, however, as he used his Scepter to sway Hulk to his control and unleashing him onto Captain America. As those two fought, Loki went upstairs and used the Tesseract to open a portal, allowing the Chitauri to come to Earth. A proud Loki exclaimed that his work was done.[2]

A Weakened Tesseract[]

"Loki! Release Hawkeye's mind now!"
"Not right this instant, Captain. I want to see which Avenger is the worthiest."
Captain America and Loki[src]

As the Chitauri started invading New York City, Loki stood on the roofs of buildings until Hulk finally found him. Loki did not want to deal with Hulk and used the Tesseract to put him in a shield like he did with Thor. However, Loki found the power to be weaker. Believing S.H.I.E.L.D. had something to do with it, Loki left to get to the Helicarrier.

Once reaching the Helicarrier, Loki took control of Hawkeye's mind and attacked Nick Fury. He then fought Captain America but was soon blocked out of Hawkeye's mind. Therefore, he turned his attention to on top of the Helicarrier where Iron Man was fighting Chitauri. Loki commanded her mercenaries to destroy Iron Man, which they were almost able to do, briefly defeating Iron Man.[2]

Banishment[]

"End of the line, Loki! Enjoy your time in oblivion!"
Iron Man to Loki[src]

Loki then sought to regain control of the Tesseract and exclaimed this to Hulk as the latter approached, having taken care of many of the Chitauri. Not wanting to deal with the rage monster, Loki made a quick exit to regain the cube. The god could not get their fast enough as Hulk caught up to him and joined Iron Man. An alien ally then told Loki that S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to close the wormhole, angering the god.

The two Avengers were a hard fight for Loki, who managed to hold his own. Loki used many illusions to trick the enemies until it was eventually him versus Iron Man. In the duel, Iron Man blasted Loki enough times to knock him down. Before Loki could get up, Iron Man grabbed him by the neck and hurled Loki into the Wormhole, effectively banishing him.[2]

Personality[]

Loki is very mischievous as well as strategic as he had no remorse for the death of his men in his pursuit for conquest. He could also be very egotistical as he often boasted about his achievements, going as far as to claim his work was done when he successfully brought the Chitauri to Earth.
