- "Dr. Connors? Welcome back, sir."
- ―Spider-Man to Curt Connors[src]
The Lizard Antidote is an antidote created to cure Curt Connors of his lizard transformations.
History[]
First Version[]
- "Oh, I got Connors. I've already cured him once, so no big deal."
- ―Peter Parker[src]
When Curt Connors transformed himself into Lizard during a failed experiment, Spider-Man successfully used an antidote to cure Lizard of his mutation.[1]
Second Version[]
- "Peter! I need the Lizard cure!"
- ―Spider-Man to Spider-Man[src]
When Lizard was brought to the prime reality from another universe, along with other villains, Spider-Man used the Stark Industries Fabricator to create a Lizard antidote to cure Connors of his affliction, although the cure was incomplete. As a fight broke out inside Happy Hogan's condominium, May Parker removed the incomplete Lizard Antidote from the Fabricator and placed it in a bag with the other cures.
Following his aunt's death, Spider-Man took the bag of cures with him as he fled the premises. Later that night, he was joined by two alternate universe versions of himself who agreed to help him in his quest. Using the chemistry classroom at Midtown School of Science and Technology, Amazing Spider-Man offered to finish the antidote, citing that he had already cured Lizard once. He was able to succesfully recreate the cure and stored it in a stainless steel water bottle[1] belonging to one of the school's science teachers.[2]
Having finished making all the cures, the three Spider-Men headed to Liberty Island, where they planned to lure the villains, and one of them webbed the cure around the scaffolding of the Statue of Liberty. During the ensuing conflict, Michelle Jones tossed it to Spider-Man, who held it front of him as Lizard lunged towards him. Lizard chomped on the bottle and his teeth punctured it, releasing the gas which successfully cured him of his abilities and reverted Connors to his human form.[1]
Capabilities[]
The antidote, in its gaseous state, was powerful enough to successfully eliminate Curt Connors' Lizard DNA from his system after Connors had been exposed to it, reverting him back to his human form.
Trivia[]
- The Lizard Antidote first appeared in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man from Sony Pictures Entertainment, although it was colored blue. Additionally, unlike Peter Parker's implication that he had synthesized the original cure, that film depicted Gwen Stacy as its creator.
