Linda Avery was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who died protecting the infant Skye.
Biography
Avery was a member of a S.H.I.E.L.D. team investigating an infant classified as an 0-8-4 in Hunan Province, China.
Avery was one of the only survivors against the attack of unknown assailants who sought the infant's death.
Once stateside, other survivors of the team started to be systematically eliminated. Fearing for the child's safety, Avery created a new identity for the child and delivered her to the Saint Agnes Orphanage and made arrangements with the foster care system to make sure that she never stayed too long in one place. Soon after, Avery was murdered. The only survivor of the team, Richard Lumley, fearing for his own life, soon fell off the radar.
The child grew up to be the S.H.I.E.L.D. consultant, Skye.
Avery's name was commemorated on the Wall of Valor.[1]
