- "We are repeating this loop again and again and again!"
"Fitz, take a breath!"
"And every time, Jemma dies. They all die." - ―Leo Fitz and Melinda May[src]
Leopold James "Leo" Fitz was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who was among those who returned from 2091 after witnessing the aftermath of the Destruction of Earth and tried to stop the event from happening. Unfortunately, they failed and had to return to the Lighthouse to survive the extinction level event.
Biography[]
Frozen in Space[]
Leo Fitz froze himself in a Cryo-Freeze Chamber until 2091, where he assisted the S.H.I.E.L.D. team sent from 2017. Later, he was returned with the team to the past and failed to stop the destruction of Earth.[2]
Destruction of Earth[]
When Earth got destroyed, Fitz, along with Jemma Simmons, Melinda May, Yo-Yo Rodriguez, and Robin Hinton, boarded Zephyr One and were able to make it onto the Lighthouse. Four years later, the Lighthouse was now in space, with the humans having formed an alliance with the Kree for resources. While trying to work on the air filtration systems, Fitz complained that they were in a time loop and that the future could not be changed, although May believed that Simmons and Fitz should focus on creating an Isochronus Cyclotron, which would function as a time machine. Fitz declared that it would take them many decades to perfect the design before they could build it, and Simmons informed him that would just have to pass on that task to the next generation.
Fitz later confronted May about Hinton, complaining about Hinton's constant prophesying of doom and death. May tried to explain that Hinton could not help receiving her visions, and Fitz replied that Hinton had been telling him about Simmons' death and that he could not bear to hear it.[2]
Raising a Family[]
- "My mom used to tell me about her parents all the time. She always spoke about her dad with so much love and admiration on her face. Said that he was the best man she ever knew."
- ―Deke Shaw to Jemma Simmons[src]
Fitz, along with the other agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., changed their names to avoid detection whilst living in the Lighthouse. He and Jemma Simmons eventually had a daughter[4] who would go on to marry Owen Shaw, an engineer who built an Isochronus Cyclotron able to activate the Time Di'Alla and installed it into Zephyr One. Fitz and Simmons eventually had a grandson named Deke Shaw, whom Fitz insisted call him "Bobo."[2]
