- "It's time to ribbit and rip it!"
- ―Leapfrog[src]
Eugene Paul Patilio is a frog-themed vigilante known as Leapfrog. Acquiring a custom-made superhero suit from Luke Jacobson, Patilio's efforts of vigilantism went awry when his suit malfunctioned. Blaming Jacobson for the error, Patilio turned to Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway, hiring She-Hulk as his attorney to sue Jacobson, only to lose the case after Jacobson's attorney, Matt Murdock, made Patilio accidentally admit that his own actions resulted in the error. Seeking vengeance, Patilio kidnapped Jacobson and forced him to make him a new suit for his vigilante activities, only for She-Hulk and Daredevil to come to Jacobson's aid and rescue him. Patilio tried to escape, though he broke his legs in the attempt, leading to his arrest.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Eugene Patilio is the son of Vincent Patilio, a wealthy and prominent client of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway.[1]
Becoming Leapfrog[]
Getting the Suit[]

Patilio picks up his suit
In 2025, Patilio began to operate as a frog-themed vigilante named Leapfrog and turned to Luke Jacobson for a custom-made suit for his work. Patilio later went to Jacobson's workshop to pick up his suit.[2]
Black Market Auction[]
Patilio later attended an auction that was selling a Vibranium Spear. Knowing how valuable it would be, he bid for it. However, Patilio lost the auction, losing the spear to Todd Phelps.[1]
Failed Vigilantism[]
- "My name is Leapfrog. I'm just acting like the Guard Frog in this particular instance."
- ―Leapfrog[src]

Leapfrog intercepts the robbers
Equipped with his new suit, Leapfrog intercepted an ongoing robbery outside Monahan's Wholesale. Leapfrog confronted the two robbers as they prepared to load their van with stolen televisions, tackling one to the ground before jumping onto the roof of the van. Announcing that he was the "guard frog," Leapfrog dropped down and tried to kick the robbers, though he missed and tumbled onto the ground.

Leapfrog confronts the robbers
The robbers questioned what his name even meant, which caused Leapfrog to address his frog-themed suit and name. Leapfrog then spun on the ground, stomping on a robber's foot while mockingly laughing at his pain. However, both robbers retaliated by punching and kicking Leapfrog while he was still on the ground laughing.

Leapfrog's suit catches on fire
Outnumbered, Leapfrog tried to retreat by using his suit's built-in boosters. As Leapfrog flew away shouting his catchphrase, the boosters on his suit suddenly malfunctioned and Leapfrog plummeted to the ground. Leapfrog ripped off his helmet and started screaming in pain as his legs caught fire while the robbers fled the scene.[1]
Legal Trouble[]
Seeking Compensation[]

Patilio meets with She-Hulk
Desiring compensation for his suit's malfunction and any injuries he sustained from it, Patilio turned to the Superhuman Law Division of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway to represent him and his case. Patilio approached She-Hulk to be his attorney, eager to have a Hulk representing him.

Patilio explains what happened
Patilio told She-Hulk an exaggerated recount of his heroics against the robbers, to which She-Hulk agreed that it seemed like a clear case of manufacturer's defect, to Patilio's delight. She-Hulk asked Patilio who manufactured his suit, which Patilio revealed to be Luke Jacobson, much to She-Hulk's dismay as Jacobson was also her own tailor.[1]
Patilio v. Jacobson[]

Patilio and She-Hulk at the courthouse
- "Mr. Patilio, what kind of fuel did you use in your boosters?"
"Jet fuel." - ―Matt Murdock and Eugene Patilio[src]
The next day, Patilio met with She-Hulk at the Los Angeles Metropolitan Courthouse and waited as Luke Jacobson's attorney was late. When the doors opened, Patilio and She-Hulk both turned to see Matt Murdock walk in. Walters then stated the case and requested that Jacobson provide a list of his clients for a witness. However, Murdock argued that the Sokovia Accords had been repealed and superheroes could have anonymity again, with which Judge Price agreed.

Patilio reveals he used jet fuel
Murdock smelled that Patilio had used jet fuel, as Patilio had brought his boots inside. Patilio then proudly exclaimed that he had used jet fuel, to which Jacobson immediately stated that he had written instructions in the manual and that jet fuel was not in them. Price then dismissed the case as Jacobson had been proven to not be culpable in the malfunction if Patilio had ignored his given warnings. Patilio was left dismayed and asked She-Hulk if the loss meant he was going to jail, to which she, livid to learn she needlessly jeopardized her relationship with Jacobson, responded that she would like him to.[1]
Kidnapping of Luke Jacobson[]
Chased by Daredevil[]

Patilio getting chased by Daredevil
That night, Patilio kidnapped Luke Jacobson and brought him to the Lily Pad so he could be forced to make him a new suit. While out driving back, he was chased by Daredevil, who hopped onto his car's roof. He frantically called Jennifer Walters and asked for her help, telling where to meet him. As he tried to lose Daredevil in a parking garage, he soon came across Walters, in her new suit, and told her he liked it, before driving off.[1]
Ambush at the Lily Pad[]

Patilio suits up
- "No shame in retreat!"
- ―Leapfrog[src]
Patilio returned to the Lily Pad and believing that Daredevil would follow, suited up. He then ordered Jacobson to continue working on his new suit. His squad of men then spoke with him about what their name should be, with some suggesting they be called "tadpoles."

Patilio is confused upon seeing She-Hulk
Shortly, Daredevil arrived, along with She-Hulk, with whom Patilio was confused about seeing. He went up to her and stated she was supposed to be on his side. However, she replied she was only there to make sure he didn't get in more trouble and to help him, having learned he had kidnapped Jacobson. As they talked, Daredevil also chimed in, causing Patilio to wonder if he was a lawyer as well. When one of his men hit She-Hulk, Patilio made a face and decided to depart.

Patilio gets medical treatment
He jumped out of the window, yelling his catchphrase, only to land on the street, breaking his legs. The Los Angeles Police Department then arrived and paramedics helped him into a stretcher where he would be taken to get medical treatment.[1]
Personality[]
- "The store might be closed, but you forgot about the Guard Frog!"
- ―Leapfrog[src]
Eugene embodies the stereotype of the daddy's boy who has never done anything with his life, much less grow up. He became Leapfrog with the intent of becoming a superhero, believing that a superpowered suit would have been enough, while the only thing he managed to do in his first and only heroic attempt was briefly confusing two muggers with his childish attitude and then, after being distracted by his initial apparent success in injuring them, to get easily beaten up, due to his lack of real fighting skills.
Whenever he appears, he shows his lack of intellect or even simple common sense, as when, while expressing to Jennifer Walters his version of events regarding the incident with the suit designed by Luke Jacobson, he puts his legs on the lawyer's table to show her his wounds, not realizing how unnecessary and rude the gesture was, or when in court, after putting again his legs on the table (much to his lawyer's annoyance), he openly admits that he ignored the instructions regarding the use of the suit, causing his lawsuit to fail and then believing that this would result in his arrest.
Finally, he shows his stupidity yet again when, after kidnapping Luke Jacobson for the extremely pointless reason of forcing him to build a new suit, apparently not realizing that this now made him a criminal, he tries to escape by jumping out of a second-story window, injuring his legs in the process.
