"I see those guys... those gods..."
"You don't think they need me."
"I think they do, which is a lot scarier. They're a mess."
―Laura Barton and Clint Barton[src]

Laura Barton is the wife of Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, and the mother of three children. They lived in secrecy for their own protection against enemies of her husband. However, during the Ultron Offensive, they were revealed to the Avengers who were unaware of Clint's family. Barton reminded her husband of how proud she was of his role within the Avengers, but she needed him with her, due to being pregnant with their third child. Clint chose to retire from the Avengers and be with his family, as Barton later gave brith to Nathaniel Barton.

After coming out of retirement and getting involved in the Avengers Civil War, Clint was originally arrested, but eventually made a deal to be under house arrest to be with his family. In 2018, Barton, along with her three children, were killed by Thanos, as victims of the Snap. Five years later, they were all resurrected and the Barton family were once again reunited, and later attended the funeral for Tony Stark.

Biography

Early Life

Marrying Hawkeye

"Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files."
Clint Barton[src]

Barton had met and would eventually marry Clint Barton. When Clint joined S.H.I.E.L.D., he was concerned for the danger she would be put in from his enemies, so Nick Fury excluded her from Clint's file in order to protect them, as well as setting up a farmhouse in Missouri where they could live off the grid. This made Fury the only person to know of Barton's existence. Barton and Clint would go on to have two children together, Cooper and Lila, who they raised in the farmhouse, keeping them a secret, too. Barton was later introduced to Clint's partner Natasha Romanoff, whom Clint brought into S.H I.E.L.D., and they formed a close friendship, welcoming her into their family, and appointing her an honorary aunt to her children., calling her "Auntie Nat".

After the Battle of New York, Clint would become an Avenger, something that Barton fully supported, but had her concerns from time to time about whether the rest of the team had his best interest in mind, knowing he was always having to look after them and keep them grounded. A few years later, Barton and Clint would decide to have another child, and she successfully became pregnant. Barton decided to name their third child after Romanoff, due to their close friendship, under the impression that it would be a girl. However, they would soon learn that the gender of the baby would be a boy.

After an encounter with Ultron during a party at the Avengers Tower, Clint, who was reaching out to his contacts, decided to call Barton and check in. However, their call was interrupted by Steve Rogers, who asked who Clint was talking to, which he lied about and said it was his girlfriend, something he denied having earlier, not revealing his secret family.[1]

Clint then informed his team about how Nick Fury helped him keep his family a secret, and that he would like to keep it that way. Romanoff then greeted Barton, as she asked about her namesake, to which she revealed that the baby was going to be called 'Nathaniel' instead of 'Natasha', meaning they were having a boy. Romanoff was disappointed by this and spoke to Barton's belly, calling the baby a traitor. Lila then joined them and Romanoff spoke to her about her mother's pregnancy, which Barton informed that Lila was happy to be getting another brother. They then saw as Thor exited the house, and then sorted the Avengers with a change of clothes.[1]

"You need to be sure that this team is really a team, and that they have your back. Things are changing for us. In a few months time, you and me are going to be outnumbered."
―Laura Barton to Clint Barton[src]

Barton and Clint Barton then went to their bedroom, where Clint got changed and showed her his repaired skin from the Cradle, stating that there was no difference, trying to ease her worries. Barton then informed him that if the Avengers were going to stay there at their house, many would have to sleep together in the same room, something Clint found humorous. However, this lead her to bring up the relationship between Natasha Romanoff and Bruce Banner, which Clint was unaware of of, causing her to laugh and jokingly call him "Hawkeye" for not seeing it.

Barton is comforted by her husband

Barton knew that Clint would always support his team and ground them, but expressed concern if they always had his best interest in mind. She then reminded him that in a few months their child would be born, outnumbering them, so she needed him with her. She then asked him to be sure of his place on the Avengers, as if they weren't able to function properly, she didn't want to risk losing him. Clint understood her concerns and agreed to follow her advice. They then kissed and as they watched Tony Stark and Steve Rogers outside, Barton felt her husbands stomach, noting that she could feel the difference.

As Stark and Rogers chopped wood, Barton interrupted an argument they were having, and asked Stark if he could repair their tractor, saying that Clint said it would be fine. He agreed to help and she led him to the barn, where Fury surprised him, causing Stark to realize that Barton had tricked him into the meeting and called her a "little minx".[1]
