"Loki, you're gonna need this on your journey."
Kid Loki to Loki[src]

Laevateinn is Kid Loki's Asgardian sword, which he later gifted to Loki.

History[]

This section needs a rewrite

Kid Loki obtained Laevateinn whilst he lived in his universe's version of Asgard. He was later pruned by the TVA and sent to the Void, taking Laevateinn with him. At one point, he used it to threaten Loki, another version of himself, for being too loud, as it could have possibly attracted the attention of Alioth.

Later on, Kid Loki gave Laevateinn to Loki as a parting gift as the latter prepared to face Alioth and He Who Remains. In response, Loki conjured up a scabbard to hold the sword on his back.[1] When Loki and Sylvie eventually made it to the Citadel at the End of Time, the two ended up engaging in a duel due to clashing ideals. Loki used Laevateinn to parry Sylvie's attacks and stop her from killing He Who Remains. At one point, she held her neck against the blade and told Loki to just kill her, but he refused. At the end of the duel, Loki discarded Laevateinn in order to win back Sylvie's trust and prove he did not want to hurt her. This seemingly worked, and the two embraced in a kiss, before Sylvie pushed Loki through a Timedoor.

As Loki did not have Laevateinn in hand when he was pushed through the door, it was left abandoned in the Citadel at the End of Time.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Laevateinn comes from the poem Fjölsvinnsmál found in the Poetic Edda in Norse Mythology, and is a weapon crafted by Loki to slay the immortal rooster Víðópnir. The true and definitive nature of the weapon isn't known, with some renditions of the poem saying it is either a projectile (specifically a dart in one version), a sword or a wand, the latter being more likely given one of the translations of Laevateinn meaning "wounding wand" or "wand of destruction".
