Ravagers abduct T'Challa

"You morons grabbed the wrong kid."

Arriving at Earth to abduct Peter Quill for Ego, so Yondu Udonta ordered Kraglin Obfonteri and Taserface to find him. They caught the cosmic signature from the vibranium meteorite in Wakanda and headed there, where they found T'Challa outside of the cloaking field. "You told me my homeland had been destroyed. My family killed. How is that protecting me?"
Star-Lord to Yondu Udonta[src]

When Kraglin Obfonteri and Taserface brought T'Challa on board of their ship, Yondu Udonta figured out that they took the wrong child, while Peter Quill was still somewhere on Earth. However, Udonta noticed T'Challa's desire for exploration and decided to invite him to join the Ravagers. Udonta also told T'Challa that Wakanda was destroyed and all people in there were killed, so T'Chlla would not be bound by his past and could start a new life.

T'Challa returns to Wakanda

As a member of the Ravagers, T'Challa made a reputation of the legendary outlaw, known as Star-Lord, being involve in high-profile thefts around the galaxy. He also recruited Thanos for his cause, convincing him that his genocidal crusade was not the only option to achieve the balance in the galaxy, and also started relationships with his adoptive daughter Nebula. During the confrontation with the Collector, T'Challa found out that Wakanda was not destroyed and eventually decided to return there with other Ravagers.

As Ravagers did not carry out their task, Ego personally traveled to Earth and approached Peter Quill, who was working at a Dairy Queen in Missouri, so he could launch his Expansion.[1]
