- "Now, you just think carefully. What do you want? Really want?"
"I want my father back, asshole." - ―Peter Scarborough and Tandy Bowen[src]
The Kidnapping of Peter Scarborough was Tandy Bowen's successful mission to abduct Roxxon Corporation executive Peter Scarborough in order to interrogate him about the Destruction of the Roxxon Gulf Platform.
Background[]
- "They blame my dad for everything."
- ―Tandy Bowen to Ivan Hess[src]
In the aftermath of the Destruction of the Roxxon Gulf Platform, which had been caused due to Roxxon Corporation's intense drilling to exploit a source of Lightforce and Darkforce, Roxxon executive Peter Scarborough scapegoated Nathan Bowen, an engineer that had warned against the dangers of the drilling and who had died in the car crash in the same night. This caused the ruin of the Bowen family, with Nathan's wife and daughter Melissa and Tandy being reduced to live in poverty.[3]
Although her marriage to Nathan was unhappy due to his abusive nature, Melissa planned on clearing his name so that Roxxon Corporation would be held accountable for the incident, and enlisted the services of Greg Pressfield, an attorney with whom she started a relationship. Tandy later assisted Greg in his search for evidence, until he was murdered by Ashlie, a hitwoman sent by Scarborough who destroyed the evidence.
However, Tandy, was still able to recover some of the pieces of evidence that Ashlie had missed.[1] Moreover, she learnt from Ivan Hess, a colleague of her father she had taken out of her coma thanks to Tyrone Johnson's help, that there were still documents from Nathan that could prove Roxxon's involvement. Therefore, Tandy decided to confront Scarborough. To that end, she stole the access card of Adina Johnson, Tyrone's mother and an employee of Roxxon, by going to visit the Johnson Residence on the day of the anniversary of her father's and Billy Johnson's deaths.[4]
Kidnapping[]
- "You and Roxxon destroyed my father's good name."
""Good name"? How well did you know your old man, anyway?" - ―Tandy Bowen and Peter Scarborough[src]
Using the access card stolen from Adina Johnson, Tandy Bowen entered the Roxxon Gulf Building and hid from the guards. She then manifested a Lightforce dagger and used it to sabotage the facility's electrical installation. This triggered an alarm which Bowen was able to shut down with a dagger. She then found Peter Scarborough alone in the facility, rambling about the poor work of his employees. Before he could call anyone, Bowen moved towards him and held a Lightforce dagger at his throat before taking him away.
Bowen brought Scarborough into a building under construction and tied up to a chair. She then confronted him about his lies regarding what had happened during the Destruction of the Roxxon Gulf Platform, displaying several pieces of evidence she had gathered, and accusing him of the death of Greg Pressfield and having ruined the reputation of her father. Although she threatened to reveal the whole case to the press, Scarborough remained defiant, mocking her father's name.
Losing patience, Bowen once again threatened Scarborough by pointing a Lightforce dagger to his throat. He then offered to bribe her with a substantial amount of money that would allow her mother to get out of poverty, in exchange for all the pieces of evidence in Bowen's possession. However, Bowen stated that she was not interested in his money, as she only wanted her father back. She then left after cutting a pillar with a dagger, causing the whole building to rumble and face collapse, and abandoned Scarborough on his chair.[4]
Aftermath[]
- "It's Tandy Bowen. I thought about it, and you know what? I'll take the money."
- ―Tandy Bowen to Peter Scarborough[src]
Peter Scarborough was eventually able to break free of his bonds and safely left the building where Tandy Bowen had abandoned him. He later received a call from Bowen, who had discovered that her father had actually been an abusive husband towards her mother, favoring his work over his family and prone to hit his wife whenever he felt that she was distracting him. Disillusioned by this reveal about her father, Bowen temporarily gave up on her idea of clearing his name and decided to accept Scarborough's money.[4] She later used this money to bail out her former boyfriend Liam Walsh.[5]
Despite this minor victory conceded to Scarborough, Bowen would later still be able to reveal the involvement of Roxxon Corporation as she decided that their actions could not go unpunished, especially with the outbreak of Terrors in New Orleans, and tricked Scarborough into going into the same comatose state as Ivan Hess had been for years, trapping him inside his own mind.[2]
