The Kidnapping of Ana Helstrom was the successful removal of a young Ana Helstrom from her home. Although her brother and mother both tried to defend her, Helstrom's father successfully kidnapped her.

Background[]

In a war between humans and demons, the humans won and decided to be merciless against the demons, upsetting many of them. However, the demons were not destroyed, and one, Marduk Kurios, a serial killer while on Earth, married a woman named Victoria. They had two kids together, Daimon and Ana.[1] Victoria eventually figured out about Marduk's killing, once slapping a bracelet out of Ana's hand when Marduk tried to give it to her, realizing that it had likely come from one of his victims.[2] Marduk tortured Victoria by telling her that he saw Ana as a protege, similar to himself.[3] As the kids grew up, Marduk decided that he wanted to take Ana with him to kill people.[1]

Marduk Kurios began to attempt to bring Ana Helstrom with him as he left the Helstrom Residence,[1] and tried to set his daughter on fire, saying that she would survive because she was special. Victoria Helstrom warned her daughter to run. Daimon and Victoria begged Marduk to let go of her, although he ignored them. Ana managed to get free as she ran downstairs to hide.[4] Marduk went after his daughter, although Daimon Helstrom fought against him. Marduk stabbed Daimon with his special knife,[1] despite Daimon struggling against him,[5] causing Daimon to start bleeding out.[1] He gave Daimon a scar of his chest of a pentagram, before he pushed it out of his hands, causing it to break. Marduk picked one half up and took it with him.[6] While Daimon panted from pain, Ana held her hands over hears as Marduk walked towards her. Victoria Helstrom rushed over to Marduk and pushed against him, and while the two briefly pushed against each other, Marduk successfully pushed Victoria to the ground. Daimon watched in horror as he found himself to be in too much pain to get up. Marduk drove away with Ana, while she screamed out the back window. Daimon and Victoria, having managed to get up, chased the car down the street, although eventually stopped as the car reached a stop sign and kept driving. Victoria comforted Daimon while Ana was driven away.[1] Daimon took the remaining half of his father's dagger and put it in the barn near his house, where he hoped nobody would find it.[6]

Ana and Marduk traveled together, where he committed several murders. Towards the end of their trip, Marduk had Ana help him to abduct Zoe Richards. Marduk tortured her and burned her alive, although she survived.[7] Later, Marduk gave her his knife and asked her to stab someone. Instead, she stabbed her father and ran away. She kept running and eventually shoved her father's knife into her pocket, shocked when he suddenly put his hand over her mouth from behind.[5] Marduk buried his daughter alive, saying that she needed to understand real fear and suffering and that she could survive it.[4] Caretaker later dug her out and hugged Ana while she cried.[5] Having survived the experience made Ana realize that her father was right and that she was special.[4]

Aftermath[]

Ana Helstrom became very focused on independence and taking care of herself.[1] After being institutionalized at Saint Teresa Center for Mental Health, she took several weeks to open up about her experiences with her father,[8] developing a unique style as a method of masking insecurities she developed as a result to the trauma.[9] Victoria Helstrom became so angry that she scratched Marduk Kurios's face off of all of the pictures in the house. Unaware that Marduk had marked her for possession, Victoria began to get possessed by Kthara, being driven crazy until Daimon Helstrom contacted the Behavioral Health Department, which led to her getting committed to Saint Teresa's.[10] Daimon later felt guilty enough about his mother to attempt to kill himself, but Marduk prevented the suicide.[4] During the time before she was committed, Victoria kept a journal while fighting with Kthara for control over her body. The writings would later be described as those of a madwoman.[1] Daimon also spent time there, and was taken in by Louise Hastings, while Caretaker watched Ana Helstrom, ensuring that the two siblings remained separate.[5] However, Marduk's body was cremated,[2] and the rest of the family remained haunted by what happened to them.[1] Marduk survived the cremation, and later reappeared to take Lily with him, removing her from the care of Chris Yen, a Keeper Demon.[4]
