Officer Kel Shanahan was a corrupt police officer for the New York City Police Department, who was killed during a fight with Hector Ayala.
Biography[]
Partnered with Powell[]
Kel Shanahan joined the New York City Police Department and in 2013, was partnered up with officer Connor Powell. He and Powell remained partners for the following eight years, bonding over beer, their kids, and their shared love of basketball.[1] In 2018, Shanahan fell victim to Thanos' Snap. Five years later, he was resurrected, alongside his partner, Powell.[5]

On New Year's Eve 2026, Shanahan and his best friend and partner, Officer Connor Powell, met with their informant Nicky Torres in a subway station. Accusing Torres of avoiding them, the two began to rough him up. Hector Ayala soon appeared and tried to break up the fight, leading to a standoff between him and the officers while Torres escaped. As Ayala threw Powell to the floor, Shanahan charged at him, but Ayala evaded his attack; Shanahan stumbled over his partner and fell into the path of an oncoming train, which killed him.[6]

The death of Shanahan led to Ayala being tried for murder in the first and second degree, as well as manslaughter in the first degree. In court, Powell testified and spoke fondly about his deceased partner. However, Ayala was ultimately found innocent.[1]
