Biography[]
Raising Nick Fury[]
- "On these long rides, me and my mother would make up games, pass the time. 'Tell Me Somethin' I Don't Know.' That was one of her favorites. One time, she said, 'Tell me somethin' I don't know about you and Suzie.' Me and Suzie had a standing game of doctor we'd been playin' behind Old Man Jackson's barn. Suffice it to say, I wasn't about to tell her about that. So, I made up something crazy like, 'Me and Suzie saw a bullfrog with polka dots.' My mama just smiled. Even though I'd lied through my teeth, the mere fact that I did that, told her everything she needed to know about me and Suzie."

Katherine met and married Jack Fury, and on July 4, 1950, the two had a son named Nick Fury.[2] However, soon after Nick's birth, Jack left, leaving Katherine to raise Nick herself.[3] Kathrine called her son by his surname 'Fury,' and in turn, he called his mother the same.[4] During Nick's childhood, Katherine would often ride the train with him to Detroit. Due to segregation, they would be forced to ride the "colored car" and were unable to enter the dinning car, so the pair would bring their own food, consisting of fried chicken, white bread, deviled eggs, and pound cake kept in a shoe box. To pass the time on train rides the pair would play a game they called "Tell me something I don't know" in which they would tell each other something that the other person did not know. One day, Katherine asked her son to tell her something she didn't know about him and Suzie. Nick did not want to tell his mother the truth about what him and Suzie spent their time together doing, so Nick lied, saying that they saw a bullfrog with polka-dots. Katherine knew that her son had lied, and that fact told her the truth about Nick and Suzie.[2]

- In the comics, Katherine Fury was the wife of Jack Fury and the mother of Nicholas, Jacob, and Dawn Fury. Mama Fury was their stepmother, once Katherine passed away and their father remarried. She loved her husband's three sons as her own.
