Multiverse Discovered
"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This universe is designated as "Quantum Gravity Time Travel".

Karolina Dean was a former member of the Runaways who broke up with Nico Minoru and attended University of California, Los Angeles when Gert Yorkes was killed by Morgan le Fay.

Biography[]

Gert's Death[]

In preparation for Morgan le Fay's attack, Dean's DNA was used by Dale Yorkes to create a serum that countered Corvus' effects. Dean was then injected with this. Her, Gert Yorkes and Molly Hernandez went to find Chase Stein as he had not been injected yet. However, they found him mind controled by the Corvus phone. They subdued Stein and cured him.

Suddenly, le Fay arrived. Dean and Stein immediately shot at le Fay only to watch her counter it easily. Dean then watched as Nico Minoru's dagger failed to stop le Fay, leading the witch to give the Runaways an ultimatum: either submit to le Fay or fight and face inevitable pain. Along with the others, Dean kneeled to le Fay, telling Minoru that she loved her too much to see her in pain. However, this was all just a trick as it gave enough time for the Corvus phones to be disabled, diminishing le Fay's powers.

Angry, le Fay tried to blast the Runaways, but they were saved by Minoru, who used her Staff of One to shield them. Dean, Alex Wilder and Chase Stein ran for cover, but watched as Minoru was overpowered. Dean stepped in and used her powers to shield Minoru. However, it did not matter as le Fay chanted a spell that knocked them both off their feet. le Fay then approached Dean, saying that she was going to make her pay.

le Fay then used magic to hurt Dean, who cried out in pain. le Fay briefly stopped to say that Minoru was hers and she could not have anyone get in the way. She then resumed her torture, which eventually knocked Dean out of consciousness. Dean woke up to find Gert Yorkes on the floor having banished le Fay to the Dark Dimension. Although all seemed good, Dean soon broke down in tears as she watched Yorkes die due to injuried in her battle.[2]

Dean with her new girlfriend Julie

Nico Minoru eventually left Dean as well as the other Runaways to learn how to develop her powers. Dean was deeply upset that Minoru had chosen to leave without even saying a word, but decided to move on and began a new relationship with Julie, a fellow student met at the UCLA, where Dean studied psychology.

On the day of the third anniversary of Gert Yorkes' death, Dean was feeling nostalgic and very sad, which was noticed by Julie, who saw that she was not eating her breakfast. Dean thanked Julie for remembering the date of Yorkes' death, and insisted that she was moving on as she had promised her friends, although Julie feared that Dean was in denial. Dean then left for her class.

Dean's relationship with her friends was further challenged when a bomb exploded in Wilder Innovators Headquarters, leading Alex Wilder to believe that the Runaways had something to do with it. He began targeting his former friends.

Additionally, Dean was erased from existence when Chase Stein went back in time and successfully saved Yorkes.[3]
