Kappa

Kappa was a Deviant who terrorized Heian-Kyo, Japan, in the late Heian period.

Biography[]

Kappa terrorized the Japanese city of Heian-Kyo. Makkari and Druig stepped in to resolve the situation. Makkari fought Kappa well until he was hit with an arrow. Makkari was then able to punch Kappa far away. Later, Kappa prepared to attack a man named Yoshiie Minamoto, making Minamoto and Druig believe that another Deviant was him. Druig jumped in front of Minamoto making it so Kappa bit him instead. Druig then took control of Minamoto's body to attack the creature. However, the Deviant survived and absorbed Druig's ability to control minds.^[1]

Enthralling Others[]

It began leading attacks against the Eternals individually while controlling the other Deviants. The Eternals tracked the Kappa down to a cave in China, leading to a battle. Thena then killed the Kappa, resulting in the death of its Deviant soldiers.^[2]

Legacy[]

After being defeated, the Kappa was known to be a demon from the Shinto mythology of Japan.^[1]^[2]

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

Deviant Physiology: Kappa was a purple, tentacled creature, just like all Deviants. While being created by Arishem the Judge, he possessed many superhuman powers.
- Superhuman Strength: Kappa was able to easily rip apart human flesh to eat the Humans.
- Superhuman Durability: Kappa was very durable, being able to withstand Makkari's punches in a fight, but he still got his arm severed by Druig using the Onikirimaru. He also couldn't withstand being chopped on the head by Thena, which ultimately killed him.
- Superhuman Speed: Kappa was able to scurry away from the battle very quickly to think of his next move.
- Superhuman Agility: Kappa was able to battle the very fast and agile Makkari. He also was able to jump over Yoshiie Minamoto.
- Superhuman Stamina: Kappa fought Makkari for a very long time.
- Superhuman Reflexes: The deviant possessed fairly good reflexes, but was no match for Makkari's speed.
- Longevity: Kappa lived for at least 500 years before perishing to wounds.
Cosmic Energy Manipulation: After biting Druig, Kappa gained the ability to manipulate cosmic energy, thus allowing him to gain Druig's powers.
- Mental Manipulation: With Druig's powers, Kappa was able to manipulate his victims.
- Possession: Kappa was able to possess his victims. He did so with Kumiho and Kraken to orchestrate the 500 Year War. During the Battle of the Atlantic Ocean, he possessed the crew members on the boat as well to make them turn on their captain.

Abilities[]

Master Tactician: After gaining Druig's powers, Kappa created a plan to manipulate many other Deviants to orchestrate a war upon the Eternals that lasted 500 years.
Combatant: Kappa was able to fight the Eternal Makkari and also fight the rest of the Eternals in the Deviants Nest.
