Joshua Walker used to live in a one-bedroom apartment with his wife, Dorothy and daughter, Trish until their daughter was seven. They were happy when Walker was sober, but when he got drunk; he got aggressive. Walker was alcoholic and abusive and although he never hurt his daughter, Dorothy took all the hits instead of her, being too proud to call the NYPD. One day, Walker and Dorothy had a fight and he hit his wife's head into the wall. Feeling afraid for the safety of her mother, Trish smeared Dorothy's blood over her face and T-shirt and pretended in front of the neighbor, Mrs. Levin that her father hit her. They contacted the police, so Walker was arrested the next day, leaving his wife with Trish all alone.[2]

- In the comics, Joshua Walker was the father of Trish Walker who left his wife, Dorothy Walker, as a result of her demeaning attitude. After failing to gain custody of his daughter due to his lack of a steady job or housing, he moved to Greentown, Ohio, where he re-married to Beatrice Walker. Dorothy would go on to tell everyone that Josh had died rather than admit their separation.
