Jonathan Edward "Jon" Bernthal portrayed Frank Castle/Punisher in Daredevil, The Punisher, Daredevil: Born Again, an untitled Punisher Special Presentation, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

• Jon Bernthal made audition tapes with Tom Holland during the filming of Pilgrimage to help each other land the roles of Punisher and Spider-Man respectively.
• Jon Bernthal was brought back for the original production of Daredevil: Born Again and shot some scenes during the show's 2023 filming. However, he became displeased with how Frank Castle was written and portrayed, and therefore quit the show. When the series underwent a creative overhaul, the hiring of Dario Scardapane in addition to Bernthal having creative input on the character's future resulted in Bernthal reprising his role and filming scenes for the post-overhaul episodes in 2024. Despite this, a scene Bernthal shot in 2023 for the original version was used in his Born Again debut episode Sic Semper Systema.
  • Additionally, Bernthal wrote most of the dialogue from his scene in the episode. This scene was praised by Disney executives and used as the driving force for what the overhauled version would be.
