- "You sat in that very spot, and you misled me. You made representations to me, you conned me into suppressing this information, you lectured me about what's right and wrong, and then, you have the nerve to stand up and make a mockery of my courtroom?"
- ―Jerry Cooper to Matt Murdock[src]
Judge Fitzgerald "Jerry" Cooper is a judge in New York City.
Biography[]
The People v. Hector Ayala[]
Bail Hearing[]
- "Mr. Ayala is a decorated Army veteran. He has no record. He served as a CPA for 15 years. He's a pillar of his community."
"He's also accused of killing a New York City police officer. Next case, please." - ―Matt Murdock and Jerry Cooper[src]

Cooper presides over Hector Ayala's trial
Jerry Cooper presided over the trial on Hector Ayala who was accused of killing Kel Shanahan, and was represented by Murdock & McDuffie. Benjamin Hochberg stated that Ayala should be remanded without bail, which Cooper granted immediately. Matt Murdock attempted to object, insisting that Ayala is a decorated veteran and an important member of his community, but Cooper refused to listen. He reminded the court that Ayala was accused of killing the New York City Police Department officer, and refused to change the ruling, before adjorning the court.[1]
Meeting with Counsel[]
- "I'm granting the motion in limine. The People are directed not to discuss or introduce any evidence of Hector Ayala's life as White Tiger or any acts of vigilantism."
"This is some bullshit, Jerry." - ―Jerry Cooper and Benjamin Hochberg[src]
Later, Cooper had a meeting with Matt Murdock and Benjamin Hochberg at the judge's chambers to discuss the case, when Hector Ayala's double life as White Tiger got exposed. Murdock claimed that Ayala's vigilantism had no bearing on the case and requested Cooper to keep related evidence off the record. Murdock explained that the reveal would lead to an unjustified bias against Ayala, even though he was not wearing a suit at the time of the incident, while Hochberg strongly disagreed. He tried to convince Cooper that Ayala's vigilantism suggested a pattern of behavior that led to Shanahan's death, but Cooper ultimately sided with the defense and ruled that Ayala being White Tiger should not be discussed during the proceedings, to Hochberg's chagrin.[1]
Trial[]
- "I can strike this from the record, but that is pointless. I can declare a mistrial, but it's out already, so I'd say that ship has sailed. Put me in quite a bind, Mr. Murdock."
- ―Jerry Cooper to Matt Murdock[src]
