Jemma Anne Simmons was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who was among those being sent to an apocalyptic future where Earth was destroyed. From there, they were warned about the Destruction of Earth and returned to the past in order to stop the event from happening. Unfortunately, they failed and had to return to the Lighthouse to survive the extinction level event.

Life on the Lighthouse[]
Simmons in 2022
Despite all of their attempts, Simmons and her team were unable to prevent the Destruction of Earth. Simmons, along with Leo Fitz, Melinda May, Yo-Yo Rodriguez, and Robin Hinton, boarded Zephyr One and were able to make it onto the Lighthouse. Four years later, the Lighthouse was now in space, with the humans having formed an alliance with the Kree for resources. While trying to work on the air filtration systems, Fitz complained that they were in a time loop and that the future could not be changed, although May believed that Simmons and Fitz should focus on creating the Isochronus Cyclotron, a time machine. Fitz declared that it would take them many decades to perfect the design before they could build it, and Simmons informed him that would just have to pass on that task to the next generation.[4]

Simmons, along with the other agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., changed their names to avoid detection whilst living in the Lighthouse. She and Leo Fitz eventually had a daughter[5], who would go on to marry Owen Shaw, an engineer who built the Isochronus Cyclotron and installed it into Zephyr One.[4] However, they never got to meet their grandson who only got to know them through stories.[5]

- Genius-Level Intellect: Simmons was able to create a primary design of Isochronus Cyclotron and allow her younger self who was sent to 2091 to finish the design.
