- Jeff Ward was a recurring guest star in Season Five and was upgraded to a starring cast member in Season Six.
- Jeff Ward had originally been cast as Virgil. During the table read of the episode, the main cast felt Ward was excellent and wanted him to portray Deke Shaw, who had not yet been cast. The producers of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reached out to Ward after the reading to audition for Deke Shaw, and was ultimately cast in the part.[1]
