Jean was a mutant who was recruited by Charles Xavier into the X-Men, consisting of her, Cyclops, Beast and Storm. They were also joined by another mutant named Logan, whom they provided with a suit, although he refused to wear it.[1]

Massacre at the X-Mansion[]

"And then one day, while I was off on my own, the humans came. They went mutant hunting."

Jean and the X-Men were at the X-Mansion one day when a group of humans with anti-mutant sentiment arrived and massacred all the mutants inside, including Jean.[1]

Logan, who had not been inside the X-Mansion as he was at a bar, returned to find Jean and the other X-Men murdered. The death of Jean put Logan on the path of vengeance, which resulted in the deaths of many humans, both innocent and culpable. Logan eventually ended his tirade but was branded as a monstrous figure, leading him to be shunned by society. Through the actions of Deadpool, Logan found closure and migrated to Deadpool's universe.[1]
