Biography[]

Saving Tony Stark[]

James Rhodes found Tony Stark in Afghanistan and brought him back to the United States.[2]

Helping Iron Man[]

"What the hell is going on?! An unidentified flying object shaped like a man is breaking the speed barrier and giving NATO fits."
―James Rhodes to Iron Man[src]

Rhodes worked with NATO to find the source of an unidentified flying object and received a phone call from Tony Stark. Rhodes asked Stark what was happening, saying that it appeared to be something Stark would create. Stark promised to explain and revealed that Pepper Potts needed help as she was in danger at Stark Industries Headquarters. Rhodes said that he would help, but demanded a strong explanation and one of the strange objects for his own use. Rhodes then provided help during the Duel of Los Angeles by freeing Potts.

Stark told Rhodes that Obadiah Stane had betrayed him and likely would have killed Stark months prior had he not developed a suit of armor. Rhodes was surprised given how long Stark and Stane had known each other, so Stark explained that power could corrupt. Potts asked what that meant for Stark, but Stark insisted that his friends kept him in line.[2]
