Jacques Dernier was a soldier in the French Resistance who was captured by HYDRA and rescued by Captain Carter. He fought alongside Carter and the Howling Commandos through World War II and helped rescue Steve Rogers from captivity at Castle de Krake.

World War II[]

Captured[]

The 107th Infantry Regiment, which Dernier was a part of, got captured by HYDRA. The group was put in jail, but later witnessed Captain Carter beating up men right in front of them. The group followed Carter out as they shot at the enemy. They gained helped from HYDRA Stomper as well, who arrived to take down the enemies. Everyone then cheered for Carter.^[1]

Howling Commandos[]

Dernier soon joined a new team called the Howling Commandos, who fought alongside Carter for years. They consisted of Dum Dum Dugan, Bucky Barnes, Jim Morita, Gabe Jones, James Montgomery Falsworth, and HYDRA Stomper. On a mission to intercept a train, the Stomper heard noise and told everyone to run. Sadly, he was soon blown up and killed by a rigged explosion. Although in mourning, the group moved onto Castle de Krake, hoping it was the last HYDRA base. They soon found the HYDRA Stomper with Rogers still alive. They powered up the suit so Rogers to help. The Commandos soon witnessed the Champion of HYDRA. The group managed to get off a few shots before Rogers carried them to safety while Carter sacrificed herself to end the war and kill the Champion.^[1]
