"He's a developer?"
"And an arsonist. Repeat offender. That used to be a landmark building. Went up in flames. Freed 'em up to build whatever monstrosity he wants. People died."
Trish Walker and Erik Gelden[src]

Jace Montero was a property developer who committed arson to destroy the buildings across New York City and built his own facilities. Most of Montero's arson usually caused the deaths of civilians, which resulted in him being involved in Erik Gelden's blackmailing scheme. Eventually, Montero was confronted by Trish Walker who murdered him.

Biography[]

Arsonist[]

"He might also be a murderer. A couple of his buildings have very conveniently burned down. And Erik's files show big insurance payouts. People died."
Malcolm Ducasse to Jessica Jones[src]

In order to get his constructing plans in motion, Jace Montero purchased several buildings across New York City and committed acts of arson to destroy them. However, more than fourteen people died in the fires caused by Montero, so he had to keep it secret. Later, Montero received a vague, anonymous note from a person who hinted that he knew about crimes committed by Montero.

The person demanded Montero to leave him money or they would expose everything he did, so Montero obeyed.[3] Montero was contacted by Malcolm Ducasse who asked him about his current situation, however, he was not polite while speaking with him.[4]

The Masked Vigilante[]

"I'm here to take your confession."
"What're you talking about? You better get the hell out of here before–"
"Before you burn down another building? You're gonna do it again, aren't you?"
Trish Walker and Jace Montero[src]

While working at his own facility, Montero was suddenly confronted by a masked vigilante. She told Montero that she came to take his confession about the crimes he committed. Montero denied any knowledge about arsons and demanded the vigilante to leave before he called security. She accused him of multiple murders, as people died in the fires while Montero was burning the buildings he purchased.

Montero then grabbed his baseball bat and attempted to fight against the vigilante, only to be disarmed and beaten up by her. The vigilante demanded Montero to tell her how many people died in fires he set, as he admitted that it was fourteen. Begging the vigilante for mercy, Montero said that it was accidental and he will pay her. She said that Montero was worse than Carl Nussbaumer and before Montero could do something, he was beaten by the vigilante to death.[3]
