"Welcome, Natasha, daughter of Ivan."
Red Skull to Black Widow[src]

Ivan Romanoff was the father of Natasha Romanoff, the Soviet agent best known as Black Widow.

Ivan Romanoff fathered a daughter, Natasha Romanoff, who did not even know the name of her father. It was only during her adult years that Romanoff learned her father's name when she was greeted by the Stonekeeper of the Soul Stone on Vormir.[1]

  • In the comics, Ivan Petrovich Bezukhov was Natasha Romanoff's foster father and mentor.
  • In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Arnim Zola identified Natasha as "Romanoff, Natalya Alianovna". According to Russian naming convention, her middle name is invariably a patronymic, based on that of her father, which must be Alian. It's possible that she was adopted and her biological father's name was Ivan, in which case Romanoff wouldn't be his family name, but that of her adoptive father. It's also possible, since no father figure was present in her life, that she was an illegitimate child, in which case she would have taken her mother's patronymic (which would have been based on the name of Natasha's maternal grandfather) and surname. Natasha's father;s surname would in that case be unclear.
