Obadiah Stane was the COO of Stark Industries who was at odds with Tony Stark. He obtained his own armor and fought Stark as Iron Monger.
Biography[]
Tony Stark's Decision[]

Tony Stark returned home from his kidnapping in Afghanistan and decided that he was going to end weapons production at Stark Industries. Stane tried to convince Stark otherwise, insisting that his decision would ruin the company. However, Stark insisting that he would be saving the company, so Stane turned to Pepper Potts, asking her to talk to him. Potts claimed that Stark would not listen to her. Stark reminded Stane that he was in charge of the company and demanded that Stane get rid of the weapons supply, leaving with Potts as Stane stood speechless.
Stane later went into work and angrily retrieved his notes without talking to anyone, angry about the destruction of several Stark Industries weapons. He retrieved the suit of armor that Stark used to escape the Ten Rings and recreated them, making various tech suits as well as his own Iron Monger Armor.[1]
Attack on Stark Industries Headquarters[]

Stane led his suits on an ambush at Stark Industries Headquarters. He accessed Tony Stark's communication lines and confirmed that the attack was happening, wanting to reclaim his assets. Stark called him crazy, telling Stane to give up. Stane refused, however, saying that he did what he had to in order to protect his Stark's father's company. Stark tried to claim that his father would not have gone along with it, but Stane said that it was simply business, which Stark's father understood. Stark tried to tell him that it did not need to be that way, but Stane said that he did as he neared the headquarters. He sent a second wave of tech suits to a research lab, then a third lab to the weapons testing facility. However, Stark defeated all of the waves, so Stane sent one more to the nitroglycerin tanks, but Stark destroyed the suits.[1]
Duel of Los Angeles[]
Stane donned his own Iron Monger Armor and attacked Stark Industries Headquarters himself, but was confronted by Tony Stark. Stane claimed that he would defeat Stark and called him selfish for keeping the Iron Man armor to himself. Stark then taunted Stane, and the two began fighting. Stark eventually blew up Stane's armor, killing him.[1]
Personality[]
Stane was a businessman first and foremost. He was willing to do whatever was necessary to earn more money for himself, even selling weapons to criminal organizations. He viewed such activities as progress and thought that selling weapons resulting in a positive effect on the world. He was an expert manipulator, able to work behind the scenes to ensure things went his way. However, Stane was also stubborn, which proved to be his downfall as he attempted to steal weapons from Stark Industries Headquarters himself after his tech suits failed to.

- Iron Monger Armor Capabilities: Stane had no superhuman abilities himself, but he built a suit of armor which allowed him to hold his own in a fight against Iron Man.
- Superhuman Durability: Stane's armor allowed him to survive several attacks from Tony Stark.
- Superhuman Stamina: Stane was able to fight Stark for an extended period of time, using less energy because of his armor.
- Flight: Stane's armor allowed him to fly while fighting Tony Stark.
Abilities[]
- Expert Businessman: Stane was able to increase his profits by covertly selling weapons to the Maggia while also helping to run Stark Industries.
- Expert Tactician: Stane's strategies were often sound. He was able to use Tony Stark's mission to attack the Maggia as a distraction to allow him to attack Stark Industries Headquarters himself.
- Expert Engineer: Stane was capable of recreating the Iron Man armor into his own Iron Monger Armor.
