The Iron Man Armor: Mark XL, codenamed Shotgun, was Tony Stark's fortieth Iron Man suit and was designed to specialize in hyper-sonic flight. It was part of the Iron Legion and was destroyed by Aldrich Killian during the Battle on the Norco.

The Shotgun armor was created after the Battle of New York by Tony Stark. Part of the Iron Legion, this was the third suit Stark wore during the Battle on the Norco, against Aldrich Killian and his Extremis Soldiers. Following Pepper Potts' apparent death, Stark engaged Killian in a brutal fight. Stark summoned the Mark XVI which had its arms ripped off. Killian pushed Stark from a great height and the Shotgun surrounded him mid-fall. It demonstrated extremely rapid reaction time with its weaponry. However, it was eventually torn to pieces when Killian sliced through it with his burning hot hands.[2]
Capabilities[]
The Shotgun Armor can travel at top speed (greater than Mach V)[3] without falling apart. It even has rear thrusters at the back to balance the armor while in flight when it uses it's repulsors. This suit was among those that could collapse its plating to allow the user to step in and out of the suit seamlessly.[2]
