The Infiltration into the Helicarrier was a staged attack to test the defenses of the Helicarrier by pitting his two best agents, Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff against each other.
Background[]
Nick Fury ordered Clint Barton to sneak onto a Helicarrier to test its defenses. Barton dressed up in a black suit, and tried to sneak aboard.[1]
Infiltration[]
A masked assailant sneaked into the Helicarrier through the pump room and knocked out a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. They got to a monitor and started downloading intel of the Avengers Initiative. Suddenly, they were attacked from behind by Black Widow, who battled them in hand-to-hand combat while exchanging words. The assailant shot an arrow from their wrists, which was deflected. Black Widow then tasered them with her Widow's Bite. The assailant asked where she got them before they shorted out because they were a prototype. Nick Fury then walked in and the assailant lifted their mask, revealing themselves to be Clint Barton. Fury said it was a successful test.[1]
Aftermath[]
Clint Barton pointed out that he never realized how much assessing went into the Avengers Initiative. He asked if Fury was sure that he could handle all of these wild cards. Nick Fury responded saying that they'll only need them in the tightest spot there is.[1]
