The prisoner get killed by the Obelisk's power
Werner Reinhardt had this man captured and allowed him to touch the Obelisk to see the results. The man touched the artifact and became petrified. Hydra scientists documented the results as Reinhardt had the body of the man removed.
When the next person was brought in and permitted to touch the Obelisk, she refused upon seeing the stone limb of the previous prisoner on the floor.[1]
