"Are you seeing this robot head on the table? The sky is falling, Mobius. This changes everything!"
―Hunter X-05 to Mobius M. Mobius[src]

Bradley "Brad" Wolfe is a former Hunter for the Time Variance Authority who went by Hunter X-05. Seeing his life in the Sacred Timeline, Wolfe defected from his mission and took over his original self's life as an established actor. Captured and interrogated by Loki and Mobius, Wolfe sold out his former General Dox's plans to erase the branching timelines from existence. Wolfe was later rescued out of custody from a rogue Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes who sought to retake control of the TVA. After Loki's heroic sacrifice, Wolfe was given a new life in the Multiverse.

Biography[]

TVA Hunter[]

Abducted and Brainwashed[]

Brad Wolfe was an actor[4] who caused a significant divergence from the Sacred Timeline, causing him to get taken by the Time Variance Authority and labeled as a Variant. He had his memories taken away and was brainwashed into becoming a hunter for the TVA, given the name Hunter X-05.[5]

War Room Meeting[]

X-05 First Scene

X-05 notifies Mobius M. Mobius of his hearing

Hunter X-05 approached Mobius M. Mobius and Hunter B-15 and asked about the pictures of jet skis which were on Mobius' desk. Mobius started to talk about jet skis, but X-05 cut him off and insisted that he did not care. X-05 told Mobius that the new Judges' Council was looking to talk to B-15 and Mobius. X-05 briefly talked to Dox before Mobius and B-15 were brought in. As they were, he stood next to the Judge. They discussed B-15's order to stop pruning timelines, and B-15 explained that they did not have time to follow protocol due to the discovery that everyone in the Time Variance Authority were variants. B-15 started talking about Ravonna Renslayer's life on the timeline off the record, so X-05 insisted that she get back on the record. Mobius attempted to calm everyone's nerves by noting that the timeline was branching without issue, but X-05 disagreed, noting that the Time-Keepers being faked changed everything.

X05 and Dox

X-05 in the hearing

Loki suddenly appeared and started talking to Mobius. X-05 got angry and prepared his Time Stick to prune Loki, but B-15 got in his way. Dox demanded that everyone quiet, and X-05 started to walk away. Loki stole X-05's Time Stick and threatened him with it before turning it on the mural of the Time-Keepers, revealing the face of the true leader of the TVA, declaring that he would be returning. Mobius guided Loki out of the room, and X-05 took his Time Stick back angrily. X-05 approached Dox, who noted that the Time-Keepers' warnings appeared real. Dox told him to find Sylvie Laufeydottir for answers.[2]

Acting Career[]

"You said you bailed on the mission."
"Yeah, but I found her first."
Loki and Brad Wolfe[src]

X-05 was given a bag full of Reset Charges[1] led a group of Time Variance Authority through Timedoors as he prepared Dox's plan.[2] They set up the reset charges across the branched timelines and prepared to detonate them using altered TemPads. Dox sent X-05 to a branched timeline, where he found Laufeydottir working at a McDonald's location in 1982. However, he deserted the mission without approaching Laufeydottir and fled to the Sacred Timeline,[1] where he saw what his life would have been as Brad Wolfe, a well-known actor.

Wanting to experience what he saw, he decided to start acting himself.[4] To help elevate his acting career, Wolfe decided to create a film based on the comic book character, the Zaniac. This is because Wolfe knew how successful comic book movies would be in the future and wanted to replicate that success in the past.[3] Rumors also started to circulate about Wolfe and Brigitte Bardot.[1]

The Zaniac! Premiere[]

Love Brad Wolfe

Wolfe greets his fans

"How do you feel about your meteoric rise to fame?"
"I don't know how I feel, but I know I look pretty darn good."
―Reporter and Brad Wolfe[src]

X-05 starred in the movie The Zaniac! and went to the premiere. He got out of the car and took in the crowd. He greeted various guests, and was asked by one reporter how he felt about his rise to fame. Wolfe simply redirected the question to his appearances and showed off his outfit. Another reporter asked about the rumors about Wolfe and Brigitte Bardot, but Wolfe told him not to ask that since he was there on a date.

Whiskies

Wolfe offers drinks to Mobius M. Mobius and Loki

He was suddenly approached by Mobius M. Mobius, who asked if there would be a sequel to the movie. Wolfe embraced Mobius and tried to back out of talking to him, claiming they would talk after the premiere. However, he turned around to find Loki blocking his path. Wolfe claimed to be happy to see the pair and offered to get them drinks so they could catch up. He decided to get whisky for them, but fled Mobius and Loki. He tried to use his TemPad, but was interrupted by a woman asking for his autograph. Wolfe turned around, only to find it was Hunter B-15, who took the TemPad. Wolfe ran, pursued by Mobius.

Brad and Two Shadow Lokis

Wolfe is captured by Loki

Mobius chased Wolfe into an alley, so Wolfe pinned Mobius to the wall and scolded Mobius, saying that he was going to ruin Wolfe's life. Wolfe was suddenly blasted down the stairs by Loki's magic. Wolfe ran, and Loki continued to chase him. They reached a dead end, so Wolfe used his Time Twister to send him to the staircase he had been at earlier, escaping Loki. Wolfe tried to leave, but found himself surrounded by a gang threatening him. He tried to fight them, but found that the crowd were an illusion cast by Loki, who stood behind him and insulted him. Wolfe tried to run away, but found Loki in front of him again. Wolfe ran into an alley, but found another Loki. The three Lokis cornered Wolfe and animated their shadows enough so they could hold Wolfe in place. Loki was joined by Mobius, and Wolfe declared that he did not do anything wrong. Mobius asked why Wolfe ran, and Loki dropped the illusion of the other two Lokis.[1]

Arrested[]

Put in Holding[]

Three Hunters

Wolfe is brought into a holding room

"You will tell us if you found Sylvie when you've had time in holding."
"Right. 'Cause I'm a criminal, right?"
Hunter B-15 and Brad Wolfe[src]

Wolfe was brought to the Time Variance Authority Office with a collar put on him. He found Loki and Mobius M. Mobius standing outside the holding room he was to be put in. Loki taunted Wolfe about the collar, and Hunter B-15 demanded to know how Wolfe had altered his TemPad. Wolfe answered sarcastically, and B-15 insisted that he would tell the truth about Sylvie Laufeydottir once he had spent time in holding. Wolfe sarcastically called himself a criminal, so B-15 and Hunter D-90 locked him in a room.[1]

Questioned[]

Former Hunter - X05

Wolfe notes that he outranks his interrogators

"At the end of the day, you just make everything worse. For Mobius, for B-15, for your mother. 'Cause that's what you do. You lose. You're a loser. Stop trying to be a hero, man. You're a villain. And you’re good at it. Do that."
―Hunter X-05 to Loki[src]

Wolfe was visited by Mobius M. Mobius, Loki, and Hunter B-15. He greeted them by reminding them that he outranked them in the Time Variance Authority. Mobius asked what Wolfe was doing on the Sacred Timeline, so Wolfe claimed to simply be making movies. Loki asked what he had done to his TemPad, so Wolfe lied that it was blocking the Time Variance Authority's trackers. Loki stated that they knew he was lying, so B-15 again demanded that he answered, calling him "X-05." Wolfe asked them to call him "Brad" and asked who had approved holding him, but B-15 insisted that she did not need approval since Wolfe had abandoned his post. Wolfe noted the hypocrisy, since Wolfe got the life on the timeline B-15 was advocating for them to have yet they were angry with him for doing so.

Weak Brad Angle

Wolfe unintimidated by Loki

Loki told Wolfe that there were lives at stake, angering Wolfe. Wolfe said that they all knew Loki was trying to make up for his mistakes, calling him pathetic. Mobius attempted to cut him off, but Loki told Wolfe to continue. Wolfe told Loki that he and Sylvie Laufeydottir only made things worse and that Loki was the source of the problems in his life. He went on to claim that Loki only ever made things worse for his friends and his mother, telling him to be a villain since he was good at it. Loki thanked Wolfe and said that he was right, approaching him and suggesting that he would do bad things to Wolfe if Wolfe did not answer their questions. Wolfe simply suggested that Loki needed therapy and offered to connect him with someone, so Mobius separated them.

Bradley Wolfe

Wolfe taunts Mobius M. Mobius

Mobius told Wolfe that he would lose his celebrity status on the Sacred Timeline if he was missing for too long and offered to return him once he answered their questions. Wolfe complimented Mobius' acting and explained that the TVA was not real. He asked whether Mobius knew who he was a Variant of, and Mobius expressed disinterest. Wolfe insulted Mobius, claiming that he would be nothing until he learned who he was meant to be. Mobius slapped Wolfe and started yelling at him until Loki pulled him outside.[1]

Tortured[]

Wheeling in a Machine

Wolfe expresses doubt that Mobius M. Mobius and Loki will torture him

"I'm not trying to be a hero, Brad. I'm a villain. Remember? Look at that!"
"Um, earlier, I said some really hurtful things, and I brought up your mother. And I am really sorry about that."
Loki to Brad Wolfe[src]

Wolfe relaxed in his holding room when Loki returned, claiming he needed another session. Wolfe sarcastically suggested that Loki was going to use more extreme methods, but was surprised as Mobius M. Mobius brought a torture device into the room. Wolfe asked about Hunter B-15's location, but Mobius simply said she would not be coming. Wolfe expressed doubt that they would torture him, but Loki and Mobius explained that they were desperate. Loki noted that Mobius had forgotten the controller for the device, making Wolfe laugh. Mobius left the room to get it, but Loki locked him out and declared his intention to torture Wolfe. Wolfe noted that the device would not work without the controller, but Loki revealed that he had merely hidden it from Mobius, worrying Wolfe.

Yellow Crystal

Wolfe is imprisoned and threatened by Loki

Loki demanded to know where Sylvie Laufeydottir was, but Wolfe found new confidence as he realized that Loki did not know how to work the device. Loki reiterated Wolfe's assertion that Loki was a villain and activated the device. Wolfe backed away, scared, and attempted to apologize for insulting Loki. He called for Mobius, who could not enter due to the locked door. Wolfe told Loki to put the controller down, but Loki experimented with the controller and crushed Wolfe's stool. Loki expressed disinterest when Wolfe noted that Loki could him and trapped Wolfe within a cube. Wolfe demanded that Loki turn the device off, but Loki made the cage smaller.

Literally Breaking Brad

Wolfe agrees to share Sylvie Laufeydottir's location

Wolfe confessed that he did not know where Dox and her loyalists were, but Loki simply made the cage smaller as Wolfe tried to reason with him. Wolfe claimed that he did not know Dox's plan, but Loki did not believe him. He prepared to shrink the cage again, but Wolfe admitted to lying and said that he bailed when he was meant to look for Laufeydottir. Loki still did not believe Wolfe, given the close relationship between him and Dox, so he shrunk the cage even more, making it levitate. Wolfe promised that he left to get his life since the Time Variance Authority was not real, but then Loki said that Wolfe would not be real and made the cage shrink continuously. Wolfe finally agreed to tell Loki where Sylvie was living her new life, so Loki turned off the machine. Mobius let himself into the room, revealing that getting locked out was part of his and Loki's plan. They then made Wolfe show them where Laufeydottir was.[1]

Confessing Dox's Plan[]

Brad & Mobius (McDonald's)

Wolfe refuses to explain why he wants to leave

Wolfe brought Loki and Mobius M. Mobius to the McDonald's where he knew Sylvie Laufeydottir was working and tried to leave, but Mobius stopped him. Loki entered first, and Mobius and Wolfe soon followed. Wolfe commented on the tenseness between Loki and Laufeydottir and suggested they return while the Lokis talk, but Mobius refused. Mobius ordered food and a milkshake for Wolfe, who simply watched Loki and Laufeydottir's conversation rather than drink it. Mobius explained that there relationship was complicated and they had a lot to unpack. Wolfe demanded that Mobius bring him back to the Sacred Timeline, but Mobius stopped to talk about the circumstance that led them there and asked about The Zaniac!, so Wolfe briefly discussed it and refused to get him tickets. He again asked to leave that timeline, causing Mobius to realize something was happening.

Brad Thrown Through TimeDoor

Wolfe is returned to the Time Variance Authority

Mobius brought Wolfe outside and said Wolfe needed to confess something, so he claimed that he was inviting Loki and Mobius to the sequel to The Zaniac! Wolfe tried to get them to leave, but Mobius refused. Wolfe started saying that everyone was going to die, so Laufeydottir enchanted Wolfe and learned of Dox's plan to destroy the branched timelines. Mobius shoved Wolfe through a Timedoor back to the Time Variance Authority Office, where he was arrested.[1]

Loyalty to Ravonna Renslayer[]

Joining Ravonna Renslayer[]

Getting Philisophical

X-05 tries to convince the loyalists to escape

"Please, stop."
"You made a rather impressive life for yourself on the timeline. Don't you want it back?""
―Hunter X-05 and Ravonna Renslayer[src]

X-05 was held in the same containment room as Dox and the rest of her loyalists. X-05 asked if Dox intended to say anything, but Dox stayed silent. X-05 addressed the rest of the loyalists, trying to convince them that they could return to their lives if they worked together. He was cut off by Dox, who soclded him for giving away their plan. Dox revealed that she and everyone knew about his acting career, upsetting X-05. X-05 claimed that he and the rest of the loyalists had earned their lives. X-05 asked if Dox felt the same way, but Dox shouted that she did not. Hunter B-15 then entered and asked for the loyalists' help in defending the Time Variance Authority.

X-05 Regretful

X-05 struggles to watch his former allies die

X-05 did not believe they should take the offer, suggesting they needed a backup plan. Dox vouched for Hunter B-15's integrity, but X-05 expressed a lack of faith in B-15. He was cut off by the arrival of Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes through a Timedoor. Renslayer asked for help protecting the Time Variance Authority from B-15, noting that the near destruction of the Temporal Loom happened after she had left. X-05 asked what her plan was, so Renslayer offered a life on the timeline to anyone who helped her retake the TVA. Despite Dox's pleading, Hunter X-05 agreed to the deal, but the rest of the loyalists refused. X-05 struggled to watch as Miss Minutes crushed the remaining loyalists using the Gizmo. The three then left the room together.[6]

Taking Victor Timely[]

Brad Holding Timely

X-05 brings Victor Timely to Ravonna Renslayer

"Where's the device?"
―Hunter X-05 to Victor Timely[src]

X-05 was sent by Ravonna Renslayer to find Victor Timely and the Throughput Multiplier. He found Timely being guarded by Hunter D-90 and pruned the hunter, apologizing after he was gone. X-05 turned his attention to Timely, demanding to know where the device was. Timely put his hands up in surrender, so X-05 took him to the War Room and sat him down next to Renslayer and ensured he stayed sitting as he tried to approach them. Renslayer threatened to have X-05 kill Timely painfully, so X-05 said it would involve a small box.

Brad Wakes Up

X-05 realizes he was controlled

Timely agreed to share the information and explained it, but X-05 believed Timely to be stalling. The lights went off again, but Miss Minutes explained it was not a power surge before shutting down. The lights shut down again, so Renslayer sent X-05 to investigate it. X-05 was ambushed by Sylvie Laufeydottir, who enchanted him and took over his body. Sylvie used it to prune Renslayer while she and Loki took Timely away, and Sylvie then released him.[6]

Huh

A confused Wolfe looks at Loki

Eventually, Loki was able to time slip to before X-05's body was taken over. X-05, Renslayer, and Miss Minutes were interrogating Timely when Loki barged in. He spoke to Miss Minutes, telling her that he knew she was in pain, but they needed Timely dearly. All four of them looked at Loki in both shock and confusion, but eventually gave Timely up.[7]

New Life in the Multiverse[]

Hunter X-05's Life

Wolfe is featured on a magazine upon returning to the Multiverse

Following the reformation of the Time Variance Authority, Wolfe started a new life in one of the timelines that resulted in him being featured in a jet ski magazine.[7][8]

Personality[]

Originally a dedicated Hunter to the Time Variance Authority, X-05 quickly became disillusioned with his former purpose to prune Variants, after the revelation that all of the personnel in the TVA are Variants themselves. X-05 defected from the TVA during Dox’s mission to prune timelines and fled to the Sacred Timeline, where he realized how enjoyable and happy his original life was as a Hollywood actor. This showed his strong desire to experience life and be a normal person. As time passed, X-05, now taking the name of Brad Wolfe, became increasingly indulged in the luxuries of his original life and came to view the TVA as no longer a reality. After his capture and imprisonment, Brad Wolfe became obsessed to return to the Sacred Timeline, even willing to side with Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes because the latter two offered a chance for him to go back to where he belonged. He betrayed Dox and her loyalists, and carried out Renslayer’s orders to capture Victor Timely.

Above everything else, Brad Wolfe is a very sarcastic and emotionally abusive person who takes pleasure in taunting other people, as shown when he mocked Mobius M. Mobius’ love of jet-skis, and repeatedly berated Loki of his villainous nature and how he inadvertently caused his mother’s death in an attempt to hurt Loki’s feelings. He also insulted Mobius during his interrogation in the TVA, to the point that he eventually angered Mobius who had always maintained a calm composure. Although he was intially unintimidated by Loki and Mobius, Wolfe quickly exhibited a cowardly side. When he was tricked by Loki and was trapped in the Gizmo cube, begging for his life by selling Dox out and exposing her plans and apologising to Loki for his insults earlier. Wolfe was also visibly paranoid when Loki and Mobius stayed at Sylvie Laufeydottir’s branched timeline for an extended period of time and he repeatedly urged them to leave as he knew this branch might be erased by Dox’s loyalists, this shows that X-05 puts his own life at a higher valuation than everything else. Wolfe is also a trickster as he first pretended to be unarmed and ran away from Loki, leading the latter to a dead end and then leaving Loki there. Wolfe is easily irritated and hostile, as he nearly lost his temper when a time-slipping Loki took his Time Stick, he later also angrily demanded Loki to fight without magic in an attempt to leverage the situation.

Despite all of his negative qualities, Wolfe at least seemed to retain a certain sense of camaraderie with his former colleagues as a guilt-ridden Wolfe was seen struggling to look at Dox and her loyalists when they were slowly being crushed to death by the Gizmo.
