Attempted Sunday Dinners[]
First Attempt[]
- "Awesome. The documentary crew is here to interview me, Johnny Storm."
- ―Johnny Storm[src]
The Fantastic Four decided to host a documentary crew at the Baxter Building for a Sunday dinner to show the public what life was like for them. Storm greeted the documentary crew as though they were only there for him, when Ben Grimm appeared, pushed Storm, and said that they were also there for Grimm. Storm smiled as the crew then moved on to Sue Storm.
As dinner time neared, Johnny sat at the table with Sue and Reed Richards and attempted to take a piece of chicken, claiming to want to make sure it was ready for the cameras, but Sue stopped him with a forcefield around the chicken, threatening to do the same to Johnny. Johnny complained about being hungry, when Grimm appeared with his aunt's recipe, telling Storm to be patient. Storm got back at Grimm by setting the food on fire, asking if Grimm had it hot enough. Grimm sat down for dinner, when suddenly the streets rumbled outside, which Storm joked was Grimm's stomach. Storm and the others then jumped into action to help the city.[3]
Asked about Reed Richards[]
- "Oh, yeah, my brother-in-law's the big brains of the operation, always thinking up the next big thing. Anytime he's not with us, he's in the lab, which is why Johnny Storm is the handsome public face of the Fantastic Four."
- ―Johnny Storm[src]
The next week, the documentary crew were invited back for a second attempt. Storm was interviewed about Reed Richards, and he explained that Richards was the brains behind the team and was always in the laboratory. He took the opportunity to refer to himself as handsome and the team's public face. When hearing that Sue Storm referred to Richards as "fantastic," Johnny reacted with disgust. That night, as they sat down for Sunday dinner, another explosion happened, frustrating Ben Grimm, who did not want his food to get cold. Storm told Grimm that he would use his powers to heat it up upon their return and they left to handle the attack.[4]
Interviewed about His Sister[]
The following week, the documentary crew returned for a third attempt at filming a Sunday dinner. They asked Storm about his sister, Sue Storm, and Johnny said that she was a natural leader and that the Fantastic Four would be lost without her. He further shared that he and his sister would always support each other. When Johnny learned that Reed Richards had talked about how lucky he felt to be Sue's husband, Johnny reacted with disgust. That night, they all sat down for dinner, and Johnny expressed hope that their third attempt would be better. An explosion then happened and the alarms went off in the Baxter Building, leading Johnny to say he spoke too soon. The team stood up and went to contain the danger.[5]
