Doctor David Bruce Banner is a scientist who was subjected to gamma radiation, becoming Hulk.
Biography[]

Bruce Banner was a scientist who worked on gamma radiation, hoping it had the ability to make people stronger. He tried the science on himself, but it also turned him into a large monster known as Hulk. Realizing the transformation into Hulk occurred whenever he got angry, Banner worked to control his heart rate by meditating and practicing yoga.[2]

Banner went to Brazil and hid out there, getting a job at a bottling plant. He contacted a scientist who he knew as Mr. Blue, who believed there could be an antidote to Banner's transformations. Banner found Corablanca, a type of flower, and attempted to follow Mr. Blue's instructions, but was unsuccessful.[2]
Ambush in Porto Verde[]

That night, the Strategic Operations Command Center, a military task force seeking to bring Banner in, appeared in Banner's apartment. Banner managed to escape and ran through the streets of Porto Verde, but was confronted by a group led by Silva. Banner tried to talk the group down, but it was too late and Banner transformed into Hulk. Hulk fought the gang as the special forces unit watched from above.[2]
Battle at Culver University[]
Mr. Blue needed more information about the original experiment that transformed Banner, so he went back to the United States. He came across his ex-girlfriend, Betty Ross, who was able to give him the data he needed on a chip. However, the military found and attacked Banner, triggering a transformation into Hulk. The military used Stark Sonic Cannons against Hulk, hurting him. Hulk was approached by Emil Blonsky for a fight, though Hulk easily defeated him with a kick.[2]
Receiving an Antidote[]
Banner and Betty Ross reached New York City and found Mr. Blue, who gave Banner the pills which would serve as an antidote, giving Banner hope that he would be able to control the antidote. However, a large monster known as Abomination attacked New York City, so Banner transformed into Hulk and fought Abomination.[2]
Personality[]
Banner is a strong and determined personality who is focused on keeping people safe and keeping Hulk at bay. He spent many years learning to control his heart rate and anger and isolated himself in Brazil to avoid hurting people. He only returned to the United States with the hope of having a cure. However, he also understood that there were situations in which Hulk was needed, such as when Abomination attacked New York City.

- Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Banner enhanced his own physiology by exposing himself to gamma radiation, creating a dangerous monster known as Hulk.
- Transformation: When Banner go angry or his heart rate otherwise increased too much, Banner transformed into Hulk. His skin turned green and his abilities were greatly enhanced beyond his human for as Bruce Banner. However, he lacked control of these transformations and his actions as Hulk.
- Superhuman Strength: The main feature of Banner's transformation is that Hulk is substantially stronger than Banner. He is able to easily defeat even strengthened soldiers such as Emil Blonsky.
- Superhuman Durability: Hulk was able to withstand more than Banner could and could survive a fight with Abomination, who was as strong as he was.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Hulk had the ability to heal rapidly from attacks such as those by the Stark Sonic Cannons.
- Transformation: When Banner go angry or his heart rate otherwise increased too much, Banner transformed into Hulk. His skin turned green and his abilities were greatly enhanced beyond his human for as Bruce Banner. However, he lacked control of these transformations and his actions as Hulk.

- Genius-Level Intellect: Banner is an extremely intelligent individual who was able to use Gamma Radiation to enhance his own strength. He was also able to experiment with a Corablanca-based cure from his small apartment in Porto Verde.
- Master Scientist: Banner's intelligence largely comes in the form of his work as a scientist, enhancing his own physical strength with Gamma Radiation.
- Expert Combatant: Hulk is a formidable fighter able to hold his own against trained soldiers such as Emil Blonsky, even when Blonsky's strength had been enhanced by the Super Soldier Serum.
