- "My name is Bruce Banner. I'm trying to stop a monster."
- ―Bruce Banner[src]
Doctor Robert Bruce Banner was a scientist whose experiment resulted in his transformation into the monstrous Hulk. He was hunted by the military and fled to Porto Verde, where he was found by Emil Blonsky. Hulk then relocated to New York City, where he met Rick Jones and helped him fight against the Enclave. Banner went to Samuel Sterns for helping ridding himself of Hulk, which led to him reuniting with Betty Ross and having further conflicts with the military. Banner ultimately defeated Blonsky, who had transformed himself into Abomination and escaped from the military, taking down the Enclave as well.
Biography[]
Experiment Gone Wrong[]
- "I know firsthand the horrors scientists sometimes inflict on mankind."
- ―Bruce Banner[src]
Bruce Banner was recruited by the United States Army to work on their Project Gamma Pulse to improve soldiers' abilities. Banner worked on the project with Betty Ross and developed a romantic connection with her. When Glenn Talbot visited the lab, he would flirt with Ross, annoying Banner. However, the experiment went wrong and created a monstrous being known as Hulk, who shared a body with Banner and had superhuman strength. Banner was forced on the run as the military attempted to capture him. Banner attempted to cure himself of Hulk and considered contacting Simon Utrecht for help, but decided against it.
Banner came to view Hulk as a monster and attempt to shoot himself in the head. However, he transformed into Hulk and spit the bullet back out. Hulk looked at the bullet and realized what had happened, causing him to shout Banner's name in frustration.
While on the run, Banner kept audio logs using a tape recorder. In his first log, he noted his surprise that Hulk would occasionally help people in need. He noted that while he wanted to take credit for Hulk's good deeds, he also felt responsible for Hulk's crimes.[2]
Hunted[]
Banner settled in Porto Verde, but was found five years after his suicide attempt and hunted down by Emil Blonsky, prompting Banner to flee as his heart rate increased. He rounded a corner and jumped over a fence before breaking into a factory, which the United States Army then blew up, crushing Banner. However, Banner transformed into Hulk and rose from under the rubble. He punched through a door in the factory and fought several soldiers, surprising them. He defeated all of the soldiers and tried to leave the factory, but started getting shot at by a helicopter. He destroyed the helicopter and continued to navigate the factory, when Blonsky appeared in an armor and challenged him. Blonsky and Hulk fought while Blonsky's troops fired at Hulk, but Hulk managed to defeat them and fled.[2]
Saving Rick Jones[]
- "Whatever you were back there... if I had you on my side..."
"It isn't on anyone's side." - ―Rick Jones and Bruce Banner[src]
Hulk returned to New York City, when he was suddenly ambushed by a mysterious group. He defeated the Legionnaries attacking him and climbed a building, causing him to discover Rick Jones being mind controlled to jump off another building. The Enclave Legionaries saw Hulk and prepared to kill him, so Hulk fought them off, freeing Jones from the mind control. Jones introduced himself as Hulk transformed back into Banner. Banner introduced himself and was surprised to learn that Jones knew him. Jones explained that he was familiar with him because of the Enclave, a group which was created by four scientists, each with their own army. He explained that the Enclave use Manhattan as a testing ground for their experiments and that they needed to be stopped. Jones started to explain that Hulk being on his side would help, but Banner cut him off and claimed that Hulk was not on anyone's side. Jones gave him a transmitter he stole to allow them to communicate. Jones then warned Banner that there was a large military presence in the city, suggesting that they were after Hulk.
Hulk was attacked by the Army, and started fighting the soldiers. Jones contacted Hulk and told him that he got a lead on an Enclave lab, asking him to destroy it. Hulk found the Paragon Corporation building and destroyed it, attracting the Army's attention. The army attacked Hulk in several Humvees, which Hulk destroyed using a piece of rubble he had lifted as a shield to protect himself. While Hulk continued to fight through the soldiers, Jones warned Hulk about the amount of soldiers and suggested he escape using the subway. Hulk made it to the subway and successfully avoided the army.[2]
Escorting Rick Jones[]
Rick Jones called Banner and told him that the Ceres Sector of Enclave, which was responsible for chemical weapons and genetic engineering, was hunting Jones for stealing one of their tanks. Jones told Banner that he was going to find a safe house and acknowledged that he should try avoiding trouble. Banner transformed into Hulk, and Jones told him that he needed an escort to the safe house due to checkpoints set up by the Enclave to catch him. Hulk destroyed one of the Enclave's drop ships and defeated the rest of the Enclave, allowing Jones to reach the safe house undetected. Jones thanked Hulk and explained that he was following a lead, saying that he would tell Hulk when he knew more.[2]
Stopping the Earthquake Bombs[]
- "Why don't we leave it alone?"
"We can't - they're too dangerous and people could get hurt." - ―Bruce Banner and Rick Jones[src]
An Enclave Assault Group attacked New York City near Hulk, prompting him to fight the Assault Group. However, the damage in the fight caused the military found him, so Hulk had to fight them as well.
Rick Jones then contacted Banner and told him that the Vulcan Sector of the Enclave was planning to use Earthquake Bombs on the city. Banner suggested they leave it alone, but Jones said that they could not since people would get hurt. Jones threatened to do it alone, so Banner sighed and agreed to help. Banner transformed into Hulk and carried Jones to the first bomb, fighting off the Enclave soldiers while Jones disarmed it. Once Jones was done, Hulk carried him to the next bomb and defended him there. Jones then told Hulk that the bombs were coming from a specific research facility as they went to the third bomb. Jones diffused the bomb in time for them to flee, coming across a group of Barbaria. Hulk defeated the Barbaria and left to take down the Jupiter Research Base, where the bombs were created.
They reached the based and found it to be protected by a shield. Jones saw the generators creating the shield, so Hulk destroyed them. With the shield down, Hulk was able to destroy the lab. Jones then investigated the lab and determined that there was nothing that could tell them what the Enclave were planning.[2]
Destroying the Kyklops[]
- "Hulk strongest one there is!"
- ―Hulk[src]
Some time later, Rick Jones called Banner again to tell him that he came across a large robot. However, the call cut off as Banner tried to get through to Jones. Hulk then found the Kyklops and threw cars at it until it collapsed onto the ground. Jones approached Hulk, who announced that he was the strongest being there was. However, the Kyklops initiated its self-destruct sequence, prompting Hulk to flee with Jones over his shoulder. Hulk brought Jones on top of a building, where Jones thanked him and said that he provide help if Hulk ever needed it. Hulk simply walked away.
Hulk found another Assault Group attacking the city, so he stopped it. Hulk then transformed back into Banner, who made an audio diary entry about the Enclave in which he voiced his disgust for the organization using science to hurt people. He determined that he would find a way to stop the Enclave and himself.[2]
Search for a Cure[]
- "The monster inside me never rests. I have to find a cure. I can't let anyone stop me -- especially those who would use this horrible curse as a weapon."
- ―Bruce Banner[src]
Banner made an entry in his audio diary that he needed to find a cure for Hulk. He went to Samuel Sterns for help. Sterns commented that he was not sure of whether he was real. He gave Sterns a sample of his blood, and Sterns explained that the United States Army had data which would help him. Banner offered to retrieve the data for him and transformed into Hulk, who went to an army base and was met with resistance that he fought his way through. The Army sent heavily armored vehicles which Hulk managed to destroy as well. Hulk retrieved the data, so Banner brought it back to Sterns. Sterns suggested that Banner talk to Simon Utrecht, whose research seemed similar to Banner's. Banner expressed hope that the research was not similar. Banner noted in his audio diary that Utrecht was a ruthless business man and expressed hope that he was not recreating Banner's experiment.
While Hulk went to talk to Utrecht, Rick Jones contacted him to warn him that the military were on their way to Utrecht Laboratories to arrest Utrecht. Banner fought the military on the way to the lab until Jones told him that there was an energy spike due to an antenna drawing power. Hulk destroyed the antenna, not realizing that it was activated due to Utrecht's attempted recreation of the experiment. Utrecht and his colleagues were given powers and became the U-Foes. They attacked Hulk as retribution for destroying their experiment, but Hulk defeated them. Hulk commented on the humans being weak and left.
Sterns' efforts were interfered with by a jamming device used by the Army, so Hulk went to multiple bases and destroyed them until he found the signal jammer. He stole it from the military and threw it into the lake in Central Park. Sterns then called Banner and told him that the interference was hiding nanites which he needed for the cure. Jones contacted Hulk and told him that the nanites were in a garbage truck in the city and that the Army was looking for them as well. He ran around the city and destroyed garbage trucks, searching for the nanites. The Army started shooting at him, but Hulk fled and defeated their forces. He found the nanites and brought them back to Empire State University, defeating the Army's forces. Hulk dropped the drum in front of Sterns and left.[2]
Attacked by Missiles[]
In another audio diary, Banner expressed doubt that Hulk was the worst of the monsters that existed. Hulk was weakened by a sonic attack when the United States Army arrived and started firing at him. Hulk fought through their soldiers and destroyed the transmitter before fleeing. Jones found the source of the missiles' targeting system, which Hulk rushed to and destroyed. However, more missiles were sent, so Jones found the radio tower the signal came from, which Hulk also destroyed. Hulk found the military base with the target computer and destroyed it, fighting and defeating Emil Blonsky in the process.[2]
Enclave on the Move[]
Banner rushed to a meeting with Rick Jones, who warned him about a series of Energy Consumption Engines which the Enclave placed around the city. Banner transformed into Hulk and attacked the first engine, which he found to be defended by Enclave Swarms. He destroyed the swarms with a thunderclap move and destroyed the engine, along with the drop ship defending it from the air. Another engine he went to was defended by soldiers and a swarm, which he defeated before destroying the engine. The third engine was defended by swarms and soldiers as well as Barbaria, but Hulk defeated all of them and destroyed the engine as well.
The Enclave then deployed chemical bombs, so Jones called Banner and told him to drop them in salt water to prevent them from catalyzing. Hulk ran around the city and got each bomb, throwing them into the river. Banner then recorded another audio diary entry about his thoughts about Thaddeus Ross and the Enclave. He noted that while Ross was determined and focused, the Enclave was more dangerous because they had multiple plans consistently running under the radar.
However, several chemical bombs still went off, which Hulk went to investigate. The Enclave arrived as people started passing out. Hulk defeated the Enclave soldiers in all of the infected areas, but then Jones told him to leave and avoid the contamination. The Enclave then set up several Energy Consumption Engines in the contaminated areas, but Hulk destroyed them. Banner recorded another audio diary expressing how angry the Enclave's actions made him.
Samuel Sterns created a device to clean the contamination called the Scrubber, so Hulk went to Empire State University and retrieved it, receiving instructions from Sterns about how to use it. Hulk brought the Scrubber to the infected areas and fought the soldiers in each area before returning the Scrubber to Sterns, who put the Scrubber in a container before it exploded.[2]
Mind Control Plot[]
- "Enclave's activated a control antenna and you're the only one who can stop them."
- ―Rick Jones to Hulk[src]
Rick Jones learned that the Enclave planned on using a mass Mind Control Device on the city. Hulk provided a distraction by fighting the Barbaria guarding the Paragon Corporation building where the device was being developed. This got the Enclave to lower the force field around the building, giving Jones the opportunity to get inside. However, the shield remained up, so Hulk attacked a nearby testing site to get them to send reinforcements. Hulk defeated the soldiers there and destroyed their computers, prompting the Enclave to send reinforcements from the building. Jones infiltrated the building, and Hulk continued fighting the soldiers. Jones recovered the data and left, accidentally triggering a countdown, so Hulk destroyed the building.
Banner created an audio diary entry about the feeling of being trapped in his body while Hulk was in charge, worried that it was what the mind control felt like. Hulk was approached by Jones in his car, asking for protection from the Kyklops which the Enclave sent after him. Hulk fought the Kyklops and guided Jones through the several roadblocks which the Enclave set up to stop him. Jones arrived at the safehouse and said that they needed to plan countermeasures. The Enclave tracked the data's location and went after Jones, so Hulk fought off the reinforcements as they came. Jones was able to extract the data, so Hulk ran him to Empire State University.
Samuel Sterns was able to create a countermeasure for the mind control which he gave to Hulk. Jones suggested that Hulk help the people being mind controlled by scaring them away from the Energy Consumption Engines, so Hulk hurt the people to free them. Hulk destroyed the antenna, but the Enclave created another one in Times Square. Hulk went to Times Square to deal with it and came across Bi-Beast, who ordered the Enclave soldiers to attack while he powered up the device. Hulk fought all the soldiers and destroyed the computers controlling the antenna, triggering an explosion that sent him and Bi-Beast crashing into Times Square. The two fought, and Hulk defeated Bi-Beast, ripping off its head.[2]
Public Relations[]
Discrediting Glenn Talbot[]
Rick Jones contacted Banner and revealed that the recent attacks against him were not the actions of Thaddeus Ross, but rather Glenn Talbot. Jones suggested that they use the press against Talbot, so Banner transformed into Hulk. Following Jones' suggestions, Hulk caused damage to New York City to get the attention of multiple news helicopters. He then guided them toward a military base in the city and attacked it. Talbot believed the helicopters to be hostile, so he had a missile fired at them. Hulk destroyed the missile launchers and left the army to deal with the reporters.
Hulk was pursued by recon soldiers, but he defeated them before fleeing. Jones told Banner that the stunt worked as Talbot went into hiding. Jones advised Banner to follow Talbot's transport helicopter and see where he was. However, Talbot saw Hulk and called for a defense team, which Hulk fought while following the helicopter. Hulk defeated the team, but Talbot made it to his base.[2]
Saving Rick Jones[]
As retaliation, Glenn Talbot kidnapped Rick Jones. Jones called Banner to tell him, which angered Banner. He transformed into Hulk and went to the military, fighting them off and getting Jones. He picked Jones up and put him on his back, running to a safe location Jones knew while getting chased by the military. However, the hiding place was discovered, so they tried another. That hiding spot was discovered too, so Jones destroyed a tracking device they discovered and the two ran to a third safe zone.[2]
Recovering Stolen Items[]
Banner met with Samuel Sterns, who told Banner that due to the fluctuations in his gamma radiation levels, curing Banner of Hulk would be impossible. Banner refused to give up, so Sterns suggested they could elevate his radiation levels. Banner at first refused, but Sterns insisted that it was their only option. However, Sterns explained that they could not do it since the Enclave and United States Army had stolen his materials. Sterns told Banner they would not give up.
Hulk went to the Army and attacked their tanks, prompting them and the helicopters nearby to start shooting at him. Hulk destroyed the tanks and helicopters and retrieved the Particle Infusion Array, bringing it to Empire State University. Hulk then went to the base where the Enclave was keeping Sterns' refined solution of gamma radiation. He destroyed the generators powering a shield around the base and destroyed the base, allowing him to retrieve the gamma solution and return it to Sterns. Hulk then went to the Paragon Corporation building where the Enclave held Sterns' Energy Field Stabilizer. Hulk destroyed the building and returned it to the university, where he defended all three items from the Enclave's attempts to steal them.
Rick Jones then contacted Banner and told him that he found more of Sterns' stolen equipment. Hulk went to fight the Enclave at the building where they intended to use Sterns' chemicals to improve their mutant troops' abilities and cleared a path for Jones to arrive and deactivate the chemicals. They cleared several more, but Jones' helicopter was hit before they could reach the last one. Jones settled the helicopter in a park, where Hulk brought the chemical dispenser for Jones to deactivate.[2]
Lightning Satellite[]
Banner made another note in his audio diary about earthquakes causing him to wonder if something was coming, noting that Hulk sensed his anxiety and got confused about it. Another earthquake occurred in New York City, and Rick Jones traced the source to midtown. Hulk found the machines causing the earthquake and destroyed them, fighting off soldiers and an Enclave Swarm while doing it.
The Enclave retaliated by using Siege Turrets to target Hulk. Hulk managed to destroy the first one and came across a conflict between the Enclave and the United States Army. Hulk defeated both forces and destroyed the remaining turrets. However, he was then attacked by a Lightning Satellite which Jones helped him track down. Hulk found the satellite dish connected to the satellite and destroyed it, sending the dish crashing into Central Park. Hulk went to the park and destroyed the satellite to stop the Enclave from retrieving the wreckage.[2]
Reunion with Betty Ross[]
Banner returned to Empire State University, where Samuel Sterns asked if they were able to look at their original research data, noting that the slightest error could poison Banner. Banner noted that Culver University might still have the data, so he went to the university. However, he saw Emil Blonsky watching him and told her to get away. Banner ran, only to find himself surrounding by the United States Army and Thaddeus Ross. Betty tried to confront her father, who ordered his soldiers to restrain her. This angered Banner, who transformed into Hulk.
Hulk destroyed all of the army's deployment points which were set up around the university and rushed back to Betty, who warned him to watch out as Blonsky attacked him in a tank. Hulk destroyed the tanks Blonsky used and fought the soldier, who had been physically enhanced using data from the experiment which created Hulk. Hulk destroyed the tanks Blonsky was using and incapacitated him, only to get fired on by helicopters, which he destroyed as well. A helicopter went crashing toward Betty, who Hulk protected from the explosion. Hulk took Betty away while Thaddeus watched.[2]
Protecting the Army[]
- "I guess the enemy of my enemy is the lesser of two evils."
- ―Bruce Banner to Rick Jones[src]
Banner returned to New York City and was called by Betty Ross, who told him that Thaddeus Ross intended to attack an Enclave base, underestimating their power. Ross asked Banner to protect Thaddeus, not wanting her father to die, and Banner agreed. Hulk started to attack the Enclave, but Thaddeus Ross had him declared a target of opportunity, ordering the Army to kill him. Hulk moved out of view until they stopped firing and then continued attacking the Enclave. Hulk fought both the Army and the Enclave and destroyed the Paragon Corporation building which the Army was targeting.
Rick Jones then called Banner and told him that the Enclave intended to steal the armors which the Hulkbusters wore, explaining that the Enclave having the armor was worse than the Army having them. Banner hesitantly agreed and transformed into Hulk, who found the soldiers trapped within armors that the Enclave had frozen. The Enclave's soldiers and Barbaria attempted to steal the armor, but Hulk fought them off. The Army approached as back-up for the Hulkbusters, so Hulk fled. Banner then made another entry in his audio diary about Hulk being at war with both the Army and Enclave, wondering if he would choose a side in their war with each other.
Hulk came across one of the Hulkbusters, who quickly said that he did not want to fight and asked for help sabotaging an Enclave F-POD. Hulk fought the Enclave's defenses while the soldier tried to hack it remotely, but part of the armor was damaged, so Hulk needed to go to the pod directly. While on it, the overload which the soldier was trying to cause was overridden, so Hulk destroyed the parts responsible for the override and destroyed the F-POD. Hulk fled as the soldier promised to mention his help in the report about the incident.[2]
Conflict with Glenn Talbot[]
Rick Jones told Banner about an experimental weapon which Thaddeus Ross was moving, so Hulk went to steal it. However, once he found the weapon, Glenn Talbot's soldiers appeared in a Hulkbuster armors and stole it himself. Hulk took the canon from Talbot's soldiers and brought it to Jones, who expressed worry about Talbot, warning Hulk to watch himself. Banner made an entry in his audio diary about people becoming monsters to hunt monsters.
Hulk went to Empire State University, where he found Betty Ross being held hostage. Hulk fought the soldiers guarding her, including a Hulkbuster. Hulk defeated the Hulkbuster and through the armor at the generators powering the electrical box holding Ross, ending the current. The Hulkbuster recovered and they prepared to fight, but Ross stopped them and told them who her father was, prompting the soldier to free her. The Hulkbuster left, and Ross thanked Hulk. Hulk transformed back into Banner, who introduced Ross and Jones to each other. Jones told Banner than Talbot had been cornered by the military, so Banner declared that it was time to end their conflict. Ross warned Banner that Talbot would be more dangerous when cornered.
As Hulk went to fight Talbot, Jones warned him that the Hulkbuster armor he had donned was powered by a nuclear reactor, which could destroy the city. The two started fighting, and Hulk got several punches in before Talbot grabbed him and said that once the suit blew up, everything around them would be going with it, including him. Hulk roared and threw the armor into the air, where it exploded without harming anyone.[2]
Cured[]
- "I think we've nailed it. But... there's always a chance this could kill you."
"Trust me... if it doesn't work, I'm better off dead." - ―Samuel Sterns and Bruce Banner[src]
Banner met with Samuel Sterns, who told Banner that he wanted to test the cure before administering it. Sterns explained that the Enclave had a Genetic Simulator which they could use, so Hulk went and stole it. The Enclave went to retrieve the weapon, but Hulk fought their forces off. The Enclave released a bio-weapon onto the city, which provided Sterns the opportunity to test the cure by using it to stop the weapon. Hulk took Sterns to the building and fought the Army while Sterns went inside and deactivated the weapon using the cure. Sterns ejected himself from the building, so Hulk brought him back to Empire State University safely.
Sterns later called Banner and told him that the cure was ready, so Banner returned to the university. Sterns warned Banner that the cure could kill him, but Banner insisted that he would be better off dead if the cure did not work and prepared for the cure. Sterns warned Banner that there was a chance of the cure only working on a specific flare-up before triggering a transformation into Hulk. Hulk nearly broke free of his restraints, so Ross climbed on top of him. Sterns then administered the cure, causing Banner to return as himself, asking if it worked. Sterns explained that he was inclined to believe he only suppressed one transformation, mentioning other test subjects. Sterns revealed that he created more of Banner's blood, prompting Banner to insist that they destroy it. Suddenly, Banner was shot with a tranquilizer dart and passed out.[2]
Duel of Harlem[]
Banner woke up in a military helicopter, where Betty Ross yelled at Thaddeus Ross for taking them. Thaddeus started to defend himself, when the helicopter suddenly shook and a soldier reported that Hulk was in the street. They saw that Emil Blonsky was rampaging in the street as a monster, and Banner pleaded with the Army to kill it. Thaddeus yelled for Banner to sit down, but Banner insisted that he was the only person who could stop the Abomination. Betty tried to talk Banner out of it, but Banner jumped out of the helicopter and crashed into a building, transforming into Hulk.
Hulk and Abomination fought, and Hulk caused significant damage before Abomination picked up a taxi and threw it at the military helicopter, sending it crashing into a building. The helicopter was about to explode and kill Thaddeus and Betty, so Hulk went and clapped to put out the fire. Abomination joined them on top of the building, and the two continued to fight until they started choking each other. Hulk overpowered Abomination and punched him repeatedly, killing him. Hulk called for Betty before leaving the area.[2]
Ending the Enclave[]
Hulk then went to multiple Enclave bases, starting with two bases from the Jupiter sector, and destroyed them. He destroyed the remainer of the bases and headquarters, ending the threat posed by the Enclave for good.[2]
Personality[]
Bruce Banner's Personality[]
- "If the eyes are the windows to the soul, I'm the guy on the other side... pounding on the glass and screaming."
- ―Bruce Banner[src]
Banner feels a strong sense of responsibility for what happens to the people around him. When he realized the damage that Hulk could cause, he was willing to take his own life in order to stop it and help those who would otherwise be harmed. Whenever Hulk was in charge, he would fight to regain control and prevent whatever damage would be caused. He lived a remote life and tracked his heart rate to avoid transforming into Hulk. He mistrusted Hulk and the damage he caused, to the point where he was surprised whenever Hulk helped someone. Despite his insistence that Hulk was a danger, he was able to be convinced by Rick Jones on multiple occasions to allow Hulk to help him defeat the Enclave.
Hulk's Personality[]
- "I've gotten used to the brutality of the monster. But there are times when he surprises me by reaching out and helping someone in need."
- ―Bruce Banner[src]
Hulk is driven by anger and brutality and is not afraid to hurt people who get in his way. However, he is also willing to help those in need. He showed care for people such as Rick Jones when they were in danger. He was proud of his strength and would shout about being the strongest and how weak other humans are.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Artificially Enhanced Physiology: As the result of an experiment, Banner is able to transform into a large, green-skinned monster known as Hulk when his heart rate increases or when he loses control of his emotions. He is able to return to his human form when calm or rested. His transformation also occurred when Banner was in danger which Hulk could survive, such as when Banner attempted to kill himself or when the United States Army blew up a building he was in.
- Transformation: Banner gained the ability to transform into Hulk. He turns green as he grows in size and becomes stronger whenever he transforms, which is initiated by a heightened heart rate and deadly force. Hulk and Banner were able to sense each other's feelings, although only one could be in control of their body at a time.
- Superhuman Strength: Hulk's primary power is his immense strength, which allows him to lift heavy objects such as support beams with ease. He is also able to repeatedly punch through solid metal doors in order to get to wear he wants to go. His legs also had increased strength, as he is able to jump high enough to destroy a helicopter. When he jumps and punches the ground, the ground shakes and destroys armors near the punched area. His strength allowed him to climb tall buildings. He can also destroy buildings simply by punching them from the ground. By clapping his hands together, Hulk is able to destroy a significant amount of objects in his vicinity. He is also able to lift streetlights and trees out of the ground to use as weapons.
- Superhuman Durability: Hulk is able to withstand a substantial amount of force. When the United States Army and Enclave shot at him repeatedly, the bullets had no effect on him. Furthermore, when cars run into Hulk, he is not phased, but the cars blow up from the force pushing back. He was also able to survive falls from great heights.
- Superhuman Speed: Hulk is able to move at very fast speeds. He was able to flee from the United States Army from Brazil all the way to New York City in a very short time. He is able to sprint at high speeds. With Rick Jones on his back, he was able to run around the city to stop several Earthquake Bombs within four minutes. He was able to run several city blocks in less than two minutes while scaling buildings and pushing vehicles out of his way. He was also able to outrun the Siege Turret's tracking system.
- Superhuman Agility: Hulk had increased agility which allowed him to defeat several reconnaissance soldiers whose armors were designed specific for agility.
- Superhuman Stamina: Hulk is able to run multiple city blocks while crashing through cars and buildings without getting tired or losing pace. He is able to fight for extended periods of time without getting tired.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Hulk has a healing factor which allows his health to regenerate when his health gets low, provided he is sufficiently angry.
- Radiation Immunity: Hulk is immune to radiation poisoning, and gets stronger when exposed to gamma radiation. However, the immunity was not unlimited, as X-Ray's radiation was still deadly to the touch unless Hulk waited until his radiations levels were lowered.
Abilities[]
- "Banner was brilliant - one in a generation... but he's a scientist - he's not one of us."
- ―Thaddeus Ross[src]
- Genius-Level Intellect: Banner is considered one of the smartest people in his generation. He was recruited by the United States Army to work for their Project Gamma Pulse and improve soldiers' physical abilities.
- Master Scientist: Banner was a skilled scientist who was recruited by the United States Army to work finding ways to improve soldiers' physical abilities. His work on the project resulted in the creation of Hulk.
Equipment[]
- Tape Recorder: Banner used a tape recorder to keep an audio diary in which he described his experiences as Hulk.
Facilities[]
- Culver University: Banner worked with Betty Ross at Culver University on the Project Gamma Pulse. However, the experiment went wrong and turned him into Hulk, forcing him to flee. He returned to the university years later in hopes of retrieving the data from the experiment for Samuel Sterns to develop a cure, but Ross explained that the United States Army confiscated all the data. The Army then attacked Banner, triggering his transformation into Hulk as he fought the Army and fled with Ross.
- Empire State University: Banner worked with Samuel Sterns at Empire State University in an attempt to cure himself of Hulk. He also picked up several inventions of Sterns' from the university to help counteract the Enclave's attacks.
