Howard the Duck became a prisoner of the Collector, who kept him in a glass container. While looking for the Embers of Genesis, T'Challa came across the Duck and asked for directions to the Embers. The Duck's attempts at explaining proved frustrating for T'Challa, so he freed the duck so that he could act as a tour guide.

The Duck led him through the Collector's base on Knowhere, but stopped at a bar to get a drink from the Beerbot 5000, so T'Challa left him behind to find the Embers.^[2]
