Hope van Dyne is the daughter of Hank Pym.
Biography[]
Hope van Dyne was born to Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. However, at a young age, van Dyne would lose her mother and left only to be raised by her father, who struggled with the job. When an alien invasion commenced on Earth, van Dyne accompanied her father to a S.H.I.E.L.D. base, where she stole her father's keycard and Pym Particle Discs.
While exploring the base listening to her Walkman, van Dyne encountered Peter Quill, who was imprisoned in a cell. Discovering that he was just a normal kid like her, van Dyne decided to break Quill out of his cell so he could go home. Pym along with his team questioned van Dyne on her actions, so she explained that it was Quill's father that was the threat. Some of the team discussed killing Quill, but van Dyne told them that everyone deserved to be helped.
Van Dyne stayed at the base while her father went to find Quill, and she listened as her father was able to convince Quill to help them defeat Ego. During a celebration at their home, Van Dyne and Quill were given Goose from Wendy Lawson, and they later joined the rest of the Avengers to defeat Ego, who was still alive.[1]

Behind the Scenes[]
- Hope van Dyne and Peter Quill were the first characters suggested by A.C. Bradley to be in their episode set in the past, which was mandated by Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum, as both were dealing with the loss of their respective mothers at the same time. The rest of the episode's Avengers team was built around their presence in the episode.[2]
