"Goodbye, my friend."
―Ho Yinsen to Tony Stark[src]

Doctor Ho Yinsen (Dari: هو یینسن) was a scientist who was kidnapped by the Ten Rings along with Tony Stark. Together, they broke out of captivity but at the cost of Yinsen's life.

Biography[]

Held in an Encampment[]

"Alone in a cave... surrounded by weapons... that is a very poetic way to die."
"Oh, there he goes again. Give it a rest, Shakespeare."
―Ho Yinsen and Tony Stark[src]

Ho Yinsen was captured by the Ten Rings and brought to their encampment. He was joined by another prisoner, the weapons dealer Tony Stark. Stark and Yinsen began working on a suit of armor to escape, and Yinsen commented that it would be poetic for Stark to die surrounded by weapons. Stark told him to stop talking and continued working. Stark and Yinsen made a fifty-dollar bet that the suit would work.

The suit did work, so Stark declared that Yinsen owed him fifty dollars. Yinsen complimented Stark, who said they were leaving. However, Yinsen noted that it would not be easy since the Ten Rings were likely to want the weapon. Stark said that they would not be able to, and Yinsen reported that calibration was complete and told him to test moving. Stark retrieved a power core, revealing that systems were operational. Yinsen then told Stark to test the flamethrower, which was successful. Yinsen noted that Stark was likely to struggle with the heavy door, but Stark said he could punch through it. He punched through the door and began searching for a way out, promising to return for Yinsen. However, Yinsen told Stark not to worry about him. Stark came across a shield, so Yinsen told him to find the field generators and destroy them.

The Ten Rings arrived in Yinsen's room, so Yinsen warned Stark to leave. He wished Stark goodbye before he was killed by the insurgents. Tony Stark continued through the based and solmenly said goodbye to Yinsen as he left the facility.[1]

Personality[]

Yinsen was a strong figure who was very knowledgeable in his craft. He is emotionally mature enough to identify Tony Stark's growth from his time in captivity. He and Stark formed a strong bond, and he cared about Stark.
