- "We need more heroes than ever. Stronger, better heroes. Heroes that aren't one bad day away from a gamma-fueled rampage. Heroes that won't decimate an entire country trying to shut down a mad AI that they themselves created. We need heroes who will take accountability for their actions and live up to what they represent."
- ―Norman Osborn to Spider-Man
Hitting the Big Time is the fourth episode of the first season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Synopsis[]
Peter and Norman work through creative differences, while Lonnie undergoes a loyalty test.
Plot[]

Bentley Wittman yells at Peter Parker
Peter Parker gives a presentation on his Magnetic Generator idea to the internship group at Oscorp. Bentley Wittman chews Parker up for his idea and delivery, before the group gets informed that Norman Osborn wants to see Parker. The group finds it weird that Osborn seems to be that interested in Parker but Carla Connors stands up to him and says that Parker gives the group a good name. Parker heads over to Osborn's office and runs into Harry Osborn who was having a talk to his father.

Spider-Man in his new suit
Osborn activates a privacy mode in the office to talk to Parker discreetly and shows him the news report on the recent conflict within the Avengers due to Sokovia Accords ratification. He promises to protect Parker from the Accords and tells him to focus on becoming the true hero that New York City needs, presenting him with a new Spider-Man Suit designed by Oscorp engineers. Spider-Man tries out the suit but the addition of a cape proves to be an oversight that gets him beaten up by criminals, so Spider-Man tells Osborn to try something else.

Pearl Pangan meets Lonnie Lincoln waiting for her outside Rockford T. Bales High School and says that she is worried about his recent behavior. Lincoln assures that he is fine and he was just helping his brother, and Pangan tells him that she is open to talk if Lincoln wants. Once she leaves, Lincoln receives a call from Big Donovan who reminds him that he is on the clock and needed to come to the hideout.

Spider-Man wears the Hornet Suit
Spider-Man tests a new suit, equipped with a jetpack and wrist stingers but is having trouble adjusting to the new, unfamiliar technology. He questions the suit, saying that he does not feel like Spider-Man anymore, but Osborn assures him that he should be open to expanding his identity options. Ultimately, Spider-Man cannot adjust to the suit's flight mechanic and gets into an accident, so the suit has to be scrapped again.

At the hideout, Bulldozer talks to Big Donovan about the Scorpions moving in on 110th Street Gang territory and how urgent it was to deal with that. Big Donovan then notices that Lincoln is studying and takes the notebook away from him, telling him that they have a business to focus on. Thinking that Lincoln does not have much to do, Big Donovan gives him a job to pick up a group order at La Fresca's, which Bulldozer is excited about.

Spider-Man helps a child out
Spider-Man gives a new black suit a try but it ends up scaring a child and send a wrong message to the crowd, meaning it does not work as well. Osborn understands Spider-Man's frustration but assures him that trial and error is a park of the development process, telling him to come back to Oscorp Tower.

The Scorpions
Lincoln arrives at La Fresca to pick up an order but the atmosphere at the restaurant grows tense when he mentions Big Donovan's name. The owner gives Lincoln the burritos Big Donovan order, but on his way out gets stopped by Carmilla Black and her men, who tell Lincoln that they will be seeing Big Donovan soon. Lincoln exits the restaurant but noticing that one of the man is following him, he runs away and escapes via subway. Back at the hideout, Lincoln calls Big Donovan out for setting him up, but he explains that their neighborhood is threatened by the Scorpions and Mac Gargan, so Lincoln has to stick up to the gang whether he wants it or not.

Norman Osborn acknowledges mistakes with the designs
Back at Oscorp Tower, Osborn apologizes to Parker for his lack of understanding what Spider-Man needs, saying that all he wants is to give back to the city in the way that his wealth does not let him. Osborn explains that ever since the Avengers assembled, the public longed for heroes that take accountability for their actions and truly represent the people they strive to protect. Parker is unsure if he can live up to Osborn's expectations but Osborn assures him that he is good enough and can become the first in the new generation of heroes. Osborn provides Parker with his latest suit that does not overcomplicate the design but simply streamlines it.

Spider-Man in his approved suit
Spider-Man tries it out and feels like it was a step in the right direction, looking for any crime in the vicinity to test it out. At that moment, Mila Masaryk, Mikhail Sytsevich, Dmitri Smerdyakov and Roxanna Volkov carry out a heist and run away from the Police Department of New York City. Spider-Man joins the pursuit but due to the gang endangering the civilians, he is forced to stay behind and save people from fire. Saving all civilians before the explosion, Spider-Man returns to Oscorp Tower and voices his excitement about the new suit, but Harry turns out to be in the office as well, now aware of Parker's secret.

Trying to shake off the police, Masaryk concludes that there is no way out for all of them and bails on them, taking their haul with her, while Sytsevich, Smerdyakov and Volkov get arrested. Watching the news report about her friends being taken into custody, Masaryk brings the money to the backalley warehouse where she meets with Otto Octavius who has been waiting for her.
