Multiverse Discovered
"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"You went back in time, and then you branched off."
Leo Fitz[src]

The "History Altered by Chronicoms" Universe is an alternate timeline created by rogue time traveling Chronicom Hunters in order to erase S.H.I.E.L.D. out of existence and transform Earth into their new planet Chronyca-3.

History[]

Rise of HYDRA[]

"HYDRA? I look like HYDRA to you? Take a look at Ron's suit. Guy's here 'cause he's got mouths to feed, not 'cause he worships a space octopus."
Nathaniel Malick to Daisy Johnson[src]

The organization HYDRA was founded to worship Hive, an Inhuman who was banished to the planet Maveth. Eventually, HYDRA evolved beyond Hive and several members began to join for other reasons.[1] One member, Wilfred Malick's Father, developed a mass fortune, but lost all of it in the Great Depression. Overcome with distress, he decided to kill himself.[2] Ernest Koenig took Freddy Malick in and saved him from living on the street. Koenig hired Freddy and gave him a place to live.[3]

Arrival of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

SHIELD in the 1930s

S.H.I.E.L.D. arrives in the History Altered by Chronicoms universe

"The Chronicoms want to establish Chronyca-3 as their new home planet here, on Earth. They believe only S.H.I.E.L.D. can stop them, so they sent Hunters to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. and everyone within it."
Jemma Simmons[src]

As part of a plan to colonize Earth for their own use, the Chronicoms traveled through time to 1931 in the History Altered by Chronicoms universe. Within their own plan, Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons organized for their S.H.I.E.L.D. team to follow them back through time and stop the Chronicoms, with Fitz staying behind[4] and Simmons having her memories of the specifics of their plan removed by D.I.A.N.A.[1] Three Chronicoms, Luke, Cain, and Abel, attacked three members of the New York City Police Department and took over their identities, killing Jimmy Bottles when he witnessed it.

Phil Coulson recognizes the swordfish symbol

S.H.I.E.L.D. activated a Life-Model Decoy replica of Phil Coulson to assist them on the mission as an advisor on the organization's history. The team then went to the crime scene investigating the officers' death undercover as Canadian police officers. They found a swordfish emblem on a bottle as the police officers were waiting for a bribe of alcohol. Remembering a bar that was used as a safe house by the Strategic Scientific Reserve, Coulson recognized the swordfish as their symbol. Coulson guided Alphonso Mackenzie to the bar while Daisy Johnson and Deke Shaw stayed behind to investigate further.[3]

Investigations[]

Daisy & Deke (1931)

Daisy Johnson and Deke Shaw are ambushed

"You come nosing around here the same day Jimmy Bottles goes missing?"
―Tillman to Phil Coulson and Alphonso Mackenzie[src]

Phil Coulson and Alphonso Mackenzie were introduced to a man named Freddy and a bartender named Tillman, who pulled a shotgun on them. Coulson and Mackenzie defeated the guards present and asked to speak to the person in charge, leading Ernest Koenig to step out and introduce himself. Meanwhile, Luke recognized Daisy Johnson. Cain lured Johnson away to attack her while Abel attacked Deke Shaw. Shaw managed to escape Abel while Johnson defeated Cain. They drove away with Cain before Abel could catch up to them, bringing Cain to Zephyr One so they could interrogate him.

Phil Coulson suggests the Chronicoms are after Franklin D. Roosevelt

Koenig revealed to Coulson and Mackenzie that he sent Jimmy Bottles to bribe the police officers so that he could supply alcohol to Franklin D. Roosevelt's party. Coulson and Mackenzie suspected that Roosevelt was the target given his role in the future as President of the United States of America who created the SSR.[3]

Campaign Party[]

Viola Vial

Viola gives Wilfred Malick a vial to deliver

"I have a job for you. A second chance, you could call it. If you can deliver this to the docks, then my employer will reward you. And your family's glory will be restored."
"What is it?"
"The future."
Viola and Freddy Malick[src]

Alphonso Mackenzie, Deke Shaw, Daisy Johnson, and Phil Coulson went to Franklin D. Roosevelt's campaign party while Jemma Simmons worked to interrogate Cain. Mackenzie and Shaw bonded with Freddy while Simmons attempted to question Cain and received no answers. Coulson and Johnson worked to stay near Roosevelt and introduced themselves. Cain revealed that Freddy was the Chronicoms' target, not Roosevelt, before self-destructing. Freddy was then approached by Viola, who offered Freddy a chance to restore his family's name by delivering a package to the docks. The Chronicoms suddenly appeared and attacked Freddy. Johnson and Coulson defeated the Chronicoms and brought Viola back to The Krazy Kanoe while Mackenzie and Shaw went with Malick to make the delivery.

Daisy learns they must save HYDRA

Daisy Johnson realizes that they need to save HYDRA

At The Krazy Kanoe, Coulson asked about Freddy and learned his last name, Malick, recognizing the name of his future son, Gideon Malick. This led Coulson to realize that in order to ensure S.H.I.E.L.D. existed, they would have to ensure HYDRA existed.[3] Mackenzie and Shaw, unaware of the rest of their team's revelation, continued to drive away with Malick as the Chronicom Hunters chased them. Malick hid the package in a bottle of alcohol and kept going with Mackenzie and Shaw.[2]

Moral Dilemma[]

Making a Plan[]

Coulson argues with Johnson

S.H.I.E.L.D. discusses whether to kill Wilfred Malick

"Freddy Malick is about to deliver the key ingredient used to create the Super Soldier Serum."
Jemma Simmons[src]

Back at The Krazy Kanoe, Daisy Johnson and Phil Coulson argued about whether they should allow Freddy Malick to be killed. Meanwhile, on Zephyr One, Enoch alerted the rest of the team that Melinda May had awoken from her Healing Pod after nearly being killed by Izel. The Chronicoms searched for Malick, forcing the team to hide. A vial similar to the Malick was asked to deliver spilled onto Viola's shoe, allowing Jemma Simmons to analyze it and discovered that it was a key ingredient to the Super Soldier Serum. They questioned Viola further, and Ernest Koenig realized that the delivery would be made at Hell's Harbor. As the Chronicoms arrived at Hell's Harbor, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team were guided there by Koenig. Melinda May fully recovered and tried to join the mission, but Enoch stopped her as the rest of the team arrived.

AOS 702 - 459987

Freddy Malick demands to know the truth

Meanwhile, Malick boarded a train with Alphonso Mackenzie and Deke Shaw to go to Hell's Harbor and deliver the package, which Malick insisted would not change the world. Malick eventually fell asleep, allowing Shaw and Mackenzie the chance to search through for the package in his alcohol. Malick woke up and held them at gunpoint, and demanded to know the truth behind their arrival in New York City.[2]

Ambush at Hell's Harbor[]

Deke Shaw considers killing Wilfred Malick

"We failed. HYDRA will rise. S.H.I.E.L.D. will form."
"We can still eliminate those who are here."
"Another time. The window is closing."
Luke and Abel[src]

The train stopped at Hell's Harbor, and Wilfred Malick exited the train alongside Alphonso Mackenzie and Deke Shaw. Daisy Johnson contacted Shaw and told her that they were on their way, and Shaw confirmed that he was with Malick. Johnson told Shaw to kill Malick, causing Shaw to question whether he should given how young he was. Mackenzie found the vial which Malick was meant to deliver as Shaw drew his gun on Malick. Mackenzie tried to get Shaw to stand down, and Shaw hesitated before ultimately deciding to do so.

Enoch becomes a bartender

Enoch is left behind in 1931

Luke and Abel suddenly appeared and starting shooting at Shaw, Malick, and Mackenzie. The rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrived and returned fire, allowing Malick to get away in the confusion. Malick made the delivery as S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Chronicoms continued to shoot at each other. Zephyr One started to make its scheduled time jump, forcing the rest of the team to rush onto the plane. However, Enoch did not make it and was stuck in the time period. He became a bartender at The Krazy Kanoe, working with Ernest Koenig.[2] Koenig went on to develop a fascination with robots due to his friendship with Enoch.[5]

Strategic Scientific Reserve[]

"We know all. Even about you, Mr. Sousa. How you were a scout for the infantry till you took shrapnel at Bastogne, worked at Isodyne Energy, took down Hugh Jones and the Council of Nine."
Daisy Johnson[src]

As time progressed, the Strategic Scientific Reserve was formed and The Krazy Kanoe became an SSR safe house. World War II began to affect the world, and Daniel Sousa was one of many soldiers fighting. During the Siege of Bastogne, Sousa got hit in the leg with shrapnel,[6] and fellow soldier Mike Stephens helped him get through it until Stephens' death.[7] The Allied forces won World War II, and HYDRA was forced underground.[8]

Sousa was then recruited by the SSR and became a top agent, working with Isodyne Energy and taking down Hugh Jones and the Council of Nine.[8] Sousa developed a relationship with fellow agent Peggy Carter, but the pair eventually broke up.[6] Meanwhile, Enoch remained a bartender at The Krazy Kanoe and delivered several 0-8-4s to various agents, aware of the necessity of having them in the future.[9]

The SSR was eventually replaced with S.H.I.E.L.D., an intelligence agency[6] which was infiltrated by HYDRA during Operation Paperclip. The Krazy Kanoe shifted its focus to serve as a safe house for S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Tom was recruited for S.H.I.E.L.D. and had a supervising officer who he did not like. Tom stood up to his supervising officer and was eventually given a desk job.[8]

Infiltration into Area 51[]

Deke Shaw and Alphonso Mackenzie[src]

S.H.I.E.L.D. began developing Project Helius in Area 51, one of the organization's facilities, attempting to make an ion fusion reactor. In the area, Biff thought he saw an unidentified flying object, so he brought Barb to see it the following night. That night, a S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrived in Zephyr One, having jumped from 1931, scaring them. Sibyl, the Chronicoms' predictor, sent Chronicoms to infiltrate Project Helius with hopes of activating it and destroying the entire brain trust of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. team from 2019 figured out that the Chronicoms were likely using Helius as part of their plan. The team went to the Flying Rocket Diner and kidnapped Gerald Sharpe in order to gain access to Area 51. Disguising themselves as Sharpe and Peggy Carter, Phil Coulson and Jemma Simmons entered Area 51, expecting any of the scientists to have been replaced by Chronicoms.

Daniel Sousa is intercepted by Daisy Johnson

While Alphonso Mackenzie, Yo-Yo Rodriguez, and Melinda May struggled to get information from Sharpe due to his bigotry, Daniel Sousa arrived at Area 51 and recognized that Simmons was not the real Carter. Sousa ordered for Coulson and Simmons' arrest and came across Daisy Johnson, who claimed to be CIA and got Sousa to confess that he had submitted a report about infiltrators into S.H.I.E.L.D. The 2019 agents sent Deke Shaw, a white man, in to question Sharpe, who slipped up and revealed that nothing was powerful enough to make Helius function. Shaw explained to his team that a Chronicom would have enough powerful and that they were likely planning to activate Helius and kill the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents present.

Helius is activated

May and Rodriguez evacuated Area 51 as Johnson helped Coulson and Simmons escape custody. Meanwhile, Sharpe discovered the future technology in Zephyr One and freaked out, leading Mackenzie to render him unconscious. Simmons used an EMP Generator to shut Helius down, though it also led to the deactivation of the two Chronicoms, including one which was impersonating Niles Lindmore, and Coulson. Coulson was taken into custody while Mackenzie and Shaw hovered left Sharpe in the desert, claiming to have been aliens. Sharpe rushed to the Flying Rocket Diner and shouted his discovery, but was written off.[6]

Rescue of Daniel Sousa[]

"We didn't change history, we just took you out of it, faked your death. You're alive, literally, but to anyone not on this plane, you were killed at that hotel. I'm sorry. Welcome to life after death."
Phil Coulson to Daniel Sousa[src]

Phil Coulson recognized the date and realized it was the day that Daniel Sousa was meant to die. Coulson claimed to be Sousa's contact and called his S.H.I.E.L.D. team, explaining that they needed to retrieve a device from Niles Lindmore's home. Deke Shaw and Yo-Yo Rodriguez went to retrieve the device, and discussed using their situation of being in the past to change history for the better. They found the device, but Shaw was taken by Joe and another operative, causing Rodriguez to not be able to reach Coulson and deliver the package.

Wilfred Malick confronts Deke Shaw

Luke approached Coulson and tried to make a deal with him to be merciful in exchange for Earth being surrendered, but Coulson refused. Sousa was ambushed by Lana, but was rescued by Coulson, Daisy Johnson, and Alphonso Mackenzie. Sousa was brought onto Zephyr One and shared his suspicion that HYDRA was active, leading Coulson to realize that HYDRA were the ones who were going to kill Sousa. Shaw was brought to Wilfred Malick, who initially did not recognize him. However, Shaw revealed his identity as th eman who chose not to kill Malick, and Malick decided to return the favor and allow Shaw to leave.

Phil Coulson takes Daniel Sousa's place

Jemma Simmons helped Melinda May to realize she developed empathic abilities, and Sousa left the Zephyr to deliver the package he needed to deliver. Joe followed Sousa to Hotel Roosevelt, where Sousa made the delivery. However, Coulson took Sousa's place, and Joe shot Coulson. Johnson and Simmons brought Coulson safely back to Zephyr One along with Sousa. The Zephyr then time jumped away before the team had time to reunite properly with Enoch, who was talking to Tom at The Krazy Kanoe.[8]

"I think I might have met one of them."
"You certainly did. As it is certain S.H.I.E.L.D. will destroy all you have built. It is time to prevent that."
―Luke and Wilfred Malick[src]

Luke stayed behind in 1955 in and approached Wilfred Malick, offering him a partnership to prevent S.H.I.E.L.D. from destroying HYDRA.[8] With help from Luke, Malick created Project Insight, which could be used to target hostiles before they became dangerous. Rick Stoner ascended the ranks and became a general in S.H.I.E.L.D., working with Malick on Project Insight.[10]

Wilfred Malick celebrates at The Krazy Kanoe

The 2019 S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrived from 1955 in 1973. Phil Coulson told Daniel Sousa what had happened, which Sousa accepted. The team turned on the radio and realized that they were in the 1970s[8] and went to The Krazy Kanoe to find Enoch. Although they did not find Enoch, they discovered an anomaly in the History Altered by Chronicoms universe as Wilfred Malick was found to still be alive, even though the version of him from the S.H.I.E.L.D. team's universe was dead by then and that HYDRA was growing more influential due to Malick.

Daisy Johnson retrieves Project Insight's target list

Melinda May interrogated Stoner and learned that Project Insight would be completed within three years. Meanwhile, Gideon Malick introduced himself to Daisy Johnson and Sousa. Deke Shaw learned that Malick was alive and advocated for him to be killed. Johnson retrieved the list of targets of Project Insight and gathered more evidence of Chronicom involvement given targets such as Bruce Banner and Victoria Hand were on the list. The team attempted to leave, but Chronicom Hunters ambushed them. The team amanged to escape by holding Nathaniel Malick hostage, causing Nathaniel to see Johnson's Inhuman abilities.

Enoch finds the S.H.I.E.L.D. team

Enoch found the team as Alphonso Mackenzie and Yo-Yo Rodriguez discovered that the Lighthouse was still active much further into the future than expected as Project Insight was operating out of there. Luke, upset at the 2019 S.H.I.E.L.D., decided it was time to change the game and jumped forward in time again, forcing the team to go as well and leave the native S.H.I.E.L.D. to develop Project Insight.[10]

The Chronicoms and S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrived on July 4, 1976, the day Project Insight was set to launch. S.H.I.E.L.D. decided to infiltrate the Lighthouse and prevent the project's launch while Rodriguez and Shaw went to find Wilfred Malick. Malick met with Luke and revealed that the Chronicom Hunters had killed Alphonso Mackenzie's parents and replaced them with Chronicoms.

Zephyr One destroys Project Insight

S.H.I.E.L.D. began their infiltration into the Lighthouse, but Daisy Johnson and Daniel Sousa were kidnapped by Nathaniel Malick, who wanted to experiment on them. While Phil Coulson and Melinda May planted bombs around the Lighthouse, Shaw and Rodriguez confronted Malick. Shaw became angry and shot Malick, killing him. Mackenzie saw the Chronicoms impersonating his parents and believed them to be real, unable to go through with their plan of flooding the Lighthouse. Coulson and May were arrested as a result. Mackenzie ordered Project Insight to be destroyed in the air by Zephyr One, giving away their position to the Chronicoms.[10]

The Chronicoms fired at the Zephyr, hitting it. Meanwhile, Daisy Johnson and Daniel Sousa woke up and were greeted by Nathaniel Malick, who explains his intention to use Daniel Whitehall's research to experiment on them, believing Sousa to be an Inhuman as well as Johnson due to his apparent lack of aging.

Rick Stoner interrogates Phil Coulson and Melinda May

Coulson and May were interrogated by Rick Stoner when agent King entered and touched May, allowing her to realize that the real King had been replaced by a Chronicom. As Jemma Simmons, Deke Shaw, and Enoch rushed to fix the Time Drive which had been damaged by the missile, Mackenzie and Rodriguez managed to reach Mackenzie's "parents." While Mackenzie tried to get his "parents" onto their ship, Coulson and May broke out of custody and rescued Stoner from being replaced by a Chronicom.

Malick experimented on Johnson, giving himself her Inhuman abilities. Malick brought Johnson back to Sousa, muttering about how the procedure was the same that her mother went through. Sousa comforted her by telling her about his past and how he was injured, and Johnson revealed that she had stolen a piece of glass before passing out. Shaw came across Enoch operating on Simmons and took him down with a defibrillator, believing Enoch to be a traitor. However, Simmons explained that D.I.A.N.A. was acting up and Enoch was fixing it. Simmons and Shaw finished fixing the Time Drive and rebooted Enoch, who fixed the memory implant.

The Chronicoms impersonating Alphonso Mackenzie's parents are killed

Coulson confronted Sibyl in the Chronicom Time Ship, and the two discussed the difference between Chronicoms and Humans. Coulson then destroyed the ship, sacrificing himself in the process. Meanwhile, Mackenzie and Rodriguez got Mackenzie's "parents" onto their Quinjet and were soon joined by May. May did not sense emotion from them, prompting May to realize that Mackenzie's real parents had been replaced by Chronicoms. The agents killed the Chronicoms, upsetting Mackenzie as the team reunited on Zephyr One before it time jumped away.[1]

Having discovered that their parents were dead, the native Mackenzie and his brother were taken in by their uncle, Marcus.[11] Meanwhile, on Afterlife, the Inhuman Kora underwent Terrigenesis and developed the ability to create large blasts of energy. People became scared of her and began to distance themselves from her, causing Kora to resent her powers and herself.[12]

Zephyr One arrived in 1982, where Alphonso Mackenzie took his motorcycle outside to get fresh air, still mourning the death of his parents. Deke Shaw rushed out to comfort him, but the two were unable to get back to the Zephyr in time before it disappeared, stranding them both in 1982.[1] Shaw tried to comfort Mackenzie, who refused and drove away. He went to his parents' graves and took time to mourn them. He then went to Marcus Mackenzie's house and considered giving the native version of him a model car as a gift, but decided against it and drove away.

Russell Feldman receives a message from Sibyl

Meanwhile, Russell Feldman was approached by Chip Womack at Feldman Electronics. Womack asked for help fixing his computer, and Feldman agreed. Feldman booted up the computer and realized that it had been hacked by Sibyl, who asked for help. Feldman agreed to help Sibyl. Mackenzie, overcome with sadness, moved into his parents' house and began worked on the model car which was meant for his younger self. Shaw hired a man named Cricket to track Mackenzie and showed up at the house, and Shaw went with materials to help comfort Mackenzie. However, Mackenzie refused the comfort and locked Shaw out.[11]

"They aren't sycophants! They have my back! And they won't give up on me when the going gets tough!"
Alphonso Mackenzie and Deke Shaw[src]

Deke Shaw, refusing to give up, decided to regularly check up on the native Mackenzie family and visit them regularly, buying them school supplies, toys, and even a drum set. Shaw at one point bought a new car for Marcus Mackenzie. That New Years' Eve, the older Alphonso Mackenzie sat alone in his home, watching television and drinking. Shaw brought groceries for Mackenzie and offered to spend the holiday together, but Mackenzie did not answer. Shaw eventually put the groceries down and walked away. Shaw continued to keep tabs on the younger Mackenzie. Shaw became close with the Mackenzie family and learned about when Mackenzie got the high score on Ms. Pac-Man, cried when reading Where the Fern Grows, and got all A's on his report card.

Shaw also did not stop fighting. He grew to trust Cricket and began forming a team of agents to lead, consisting of himself Roxy Glass, Tommy Chang, Ronnie Chang, and Olga Pachinko. The team trained and operated out of the Lighthouse and acted as a band called the Deke Squad for undercover missions. Shaw used his knowledge from the future to claim he was writing music, when he truly was stealing songs that had not yet been written. Shaw spoke highly of both Alphonso Mackenzies to the team, who came to believe that they younger, native Mackenzie was the older Mackenzie's child. Shaw also found Phil Coulson's remains and uploaded his consciousness into a television set.

Meanwhile, Russell Feldman finished building a robot body for Sibyl to inhabit.[11]

Mackenzie went and watched as the Deke Squad performed "Don't You (Forget About Me)" and Shaw claimed to have wrote it. Shaw introduced Mackenzie to each member of the team and explained that the band was simply a cover for a S.H.I.E.L.D. team. Shaw asked Mackenzie to lead the team, given they had learned information, and asked Mackenzie to return to the Lighthouse with the team.

However, the team was unaware of another robot recovering the time stream and bringing it to Nahtaniel Malick. The team celebrated their victory with a party.

Zephyr One reappeared some time later, having jumped over a year. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team inside realized that they only had twenty minutes until their next jump. They were unable to prevent themselves from jumping forward and arriving a few months later. Yo-Yo Rodriguez grew impatient and insisted on leaving to get Alphonso Mackenzie, so she and Melinda May left, knowing that the next time the Zephyr would appear would be in twenty-seven days.[12] May and Rodriguez reached the Lighthouse and reunited with Mackenzie, Phil Coulson, and the rest of the Deke Squad, with whom Mackenzie had grown close. Shaw then debriefed May about what had happened during their time apart, although May did not believe that Shaw had formed a band.[11]

The Zephyr arrived twenty-seven days later, allowing Mackenzie, Shaw, May, Rodriguez, and Coulson to reunite with the rest of the team. They jumped again shortly after and realized that they could not fix the Time Drive without Rodriguez's powers, but that Rodriguez had been struggling with her powers due to a Shrike attack in 2019. The team decided to send Rodriguez and May to Afterlife so that Jiaying could help Rodriguez.[12] Meanwhile, the Deke Squad were admitted into S.H.I.E.L.D. properly and began their training.[13]

Rodriguez proved her Inhuman heritage by grabbing a Diviner, prompting Jiaying to agree to train her as she needed to know how it was possible for Rodriguez to lose her abilities. Jiaying suggested that the problem with Rodriguez's powers was psychological, so Rodriguez and May tried meditating, but instead switched to sparring. Rodriguez eventually opened up about the death of her uncle, for which May encouraged Rodriguez to forgive herself.

The attack became too much with Kora's abilities, so Gordon teleported them to the Quinjet. May and Rodriguez promised to return to help and went to Zephyr One, where Alphonso Mackenzie gives the order to abandon ship. Rodriguez managed to escape the mental block and use her super speed to fix the Time Drive, fixing it. However, as Deke Shaw and Enoch worked on it, they realized they were unsuccessful and they jumped again,[12] trapping the agents in a time storm. Daisy Johnson and Phil Coulson were caught in a time loop, which they used to figure out how to finally fix the Time Drive, although it required Enoch to give up the equivalent of his heart, killing him.[14]

Meanwhile, Malick and Kora took over Afterlife, taking the Inhumans there prisoner.[12] Malick began training Kora to use her abilities, giving her precision with her attacks.[14] Malick recruited further people to join his crew, using the Time Stream given to him by Sibyl in order to gather people who were meant to die such as John Garrett, Grady, and Durant, and turning them against S.H.I.E.L.D. and its native counterpart. He began running his experiments on the Inhumans, giving their abilities to members of his crew.[13]

The 2019 version of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned from their time loop and established a base in the Lighthouse and prepared to rescue the Inhumans in Afterlife. Melinda May prepared to tell Daisy Johnson about Kora, but Jiaying suddenly appeared in the Lighthouse and reported that Nathaniel Malick was hurting the Inhumans. Rescue in Afterlife

The Inhumans are rescued

Gordon was taken by Malick, who explained that he was giving his crew Inhuman abilities. Coulson tried to appeal to both Malick and Kora to get them to stop, but neither was willing to listen. Gordon's powers were transferred to Garrett, who teleported Malick and himself to the Lighthouse, where Johnson talked to the alternate version of her mother and learned about Kora. Johnson told Jiaying about her own mother, without revealing her identity. Coulson then broke out of custody, and Gordon sacrificed himself so that Coulson could get out of their cell and rendevouz with Alphonso Mackenzie. Coulson, Mackenzie, and Yo-Yo Rodriguez rescued the Inhumans from Afterlife and brought them to the Quinjet, including Kora, who claimed to want to meet her sister.[13]

"Fitz."
"He's gotten in our way long enough. And now you're gonna take us to him."
Nathaniel Malick and Jemma Simmons[src]

Meanwhile, Melinda May found John Garrett in the Lighthouse, but Garrett teleported away. May told the rest of her team that Nathaniel Malick and Garrett were there, but was too late as Malick found Daisy Johnson and Jiaying. Johnson and Malick fought, and Malick revealed that Johnson was Jiaying's daughter, upsetting Jiaying. Jiaying attempted to drain Malick's life force, but Malick broke free and used his powers to snap her neck, killing her. Johnson became angered and shook the Lighthouse, and May shot Malick in the arm. Malick fled, and May chased after him.

Garrett then appeared by Jemma Simmons and Daniel Sousa. Sousa shot at Garrett, but Garrett teleported away with Simmons. Garrett and Malick stole Zephyr One, taking Simmons away from the Lighthouse with them, unaware that Deke Shaw was also on board. Malick then explained to Simmons that he planned to use her to get to Leo Fitz.[13]

Brand New Day 11

Kora is taken into custody

Kora was brought to the Lighthouse and asked to be an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. while Malick sent a signal to the Chronicoms. Kora led the team to realize that their time travel and meddling had resulted in the creation of a new timeline, the History Altered by Chronicoms timeline, and offered to try to make the new timeline better. Johnson spoke to Kora alone, and Kora explained that Sibyl was unable to see a future where Johnson allowed Kora to fight alone. This caused Johnson to realize that they needed to act unpredictably.

"Where are you!"

Nathaniel Malick fails to find Leo Fitz

Malick searched Simmons' memory and tried to find Fitz's location, but got frustrated as he was unable to. Malick tried to make Simmons reveal the information, but Simmons explained that she was not doing anything. Garrett then brought in Shaw to use as motivation while Johnson, Daniel Sousa, and Alphonso Mackenzie took a Quinjet as part of their plan to behave unpredictably. Garrett tried to torture Shaw and Simmons to get them to reveal the information, but Simmons did not say anything. Malick then noticed the memory repressing implant in her neck and realized that it needed to be removed. However, Simmons was the only one who could remove it, so Malick went into Simmons' mind to find Fitz himself. However, Malick was unable to and simply saw other memories from his and Simmons' time preparing for the mission. He became frustrated and leaves as Simmons rushes to Shaw, having forgotten Fitz altogether.[15]

She explained that she wanted to show Jiaying what she was meant to be, so May revealed to Kora that Jiaying was killed by Nathaniel Malick. Garrett retrieved Kora as Coulson figured out Sibyl's plan. However, Coulson was unable to stop Sibyl as she brought a fleet of Chronicom Destroyer Ships and destroyed countless major S.H.I.E.L.D. bases.[15]

Kora and Nathaniel Malick reunited on Zephyr One while Daisy Johnson, Alphonso Mackenzie, and Daniel Sousa docked the Quinjet on it. They realized his plan and set up a device to stop him from teleporting, threatening that he would die if the bombs were not disarmed. However, Nathaniel Malick refused to disarm the bombs, leading to the bombs going off, though Rodriguez managed to get all of the bombs into one place and prevent them from hurting everyone.

The End is at Hand 4

Daisy Johnson leads her friends back to Zephyr One

While Daisy Johnson finally reached Deke Shaw and Jemma Simmons, Coulson managed to convince Garrett to help them fight the Chronicoms. Johnson led Simmons and Shaw back to Zephyr One, which escaped using missiles charged by several killed Chronicoms. Meanwhile, the Lighthouse received a coded message communicating the location of an 0-8-4.[9]

John Garrett teleported Phil Coulson, Melinda May, and Yo-Yo Rodriguez to The Krazy Kanoe, where they learned that the 0-8-4 message came from the native S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who survived the Destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D. Facilities. However, Garrett was immediately shot by Victoria Hand. The lead agent, Brandon Gamble, and the rest of the agents present revealed the packages which Enoch had delivered to them and instructed to bring to that moment in time.

Fitz is back

Leo Fitz arrives in the History Altered by Chronicoms universe

Coulson did not know what to do with the packages, but the rest of their S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrived. Jemma Simmons immediately started working on assembling the pieces while muttering to herself. Using the last of the pieces from an older agent as well as her wedding ring, Simmons opened a Quantum Tunnel and used it to bring Leo Fitz into the History Altered by Chronicoms timeline.[9] The team came up with a plan to bring the Chronicoms and themselves back to their own timeline, although they realized that one of them would have to stay behind to use the Quantum Tunnel. Daniel Sousa volunteered to stay in his own timeline, but Deke Shaw interrupted and said that he would be the one to do it and was already well-known within the History Altered by Chronicoms universe.

Director Deke Shaw

Deke Shaw becomes the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The team then enacted their plan and left the History Altered by Chronicoms universe, taking the Chronicoms with them. Shaw stayed behind and the native S.H.I.E.L.D. all turned to him, making him the new director.[16]
