Agent Hendricks is a new agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. evaluated by Phil Coulson.

In his early years, Hendricks graduated from Stanford University, and then joined S.H.I.E.L.D., where he underwent three years of intense training.

Just after the press conference in which Tony Stark announced he was Iron Man, Director Nick Fury assigned Agent Phil Coulson to supervise rookie agent Hendricks during his first mission.

Coulson met Hendricks in an alley he was transported to blindfolded, where they were going to perform a seemingly easy intelligence-gathering mission. Right before starting, Coulson was informed that a Ten Rings cell was operating in the vicinity.

They pursued the van used by a terrorist using a pair of S.H.I.E.L.D. Motorcycles, until Coulson was shot and seemingly killed by heavy gunfire.

Hendricks managed to board the van and he knocked out the terrorist, only for Coulson to approach and reveal that the whole mission was staged, as a way to know how the new agent would act under pressure.

After evaluating Hendricks' performance, Coulson congratulated and welcomed him into S.H.I.E.L.D.[1]
